Incredibly windy here.
Spoke with a Malamute rescue lady who reckoned that you shouldn't have a malamute if you have sheep or any other pets, children etc.
I don't know..I don't have kids or any other pets, but I would have thought if I had it in my control it would be okay, but it seemed like it would rule out most of the population from keeping one...
More than half, and they really are only suitable for a small percentage of people. I know of people who keep them on farms though( don't know about sheep).0 -

True alf, would NOT trust any of mine with sheep.0

In good daylight, I see there are still reeds in the thatcher's barn, so maybe all is well after all.
Another thing I was wrong about was the squash. Now the stems have collapsed, I see we only had a dozen....and they produced around 80 fruit!
There's a lot going into our barn at present, as we have to empty the loft. Three days of tidying doubled the fee space in there, but then we had over 5 years to make it messy.
Artistic DD2 has sent me £30 to buy a tarpaulin to protect the remains of 'her' cherry tree, which she worked-on long-term in a Bournemouth park...until the council condemned it and the tree guys cut it down! Undeterred, she got them to deliver the main parts to her uni, where they formed part of her final exhibition. They've been resident in our yard for over 18months now, so nicely seasoned....but she isn't having any of that! :rotfl:0 -

Unfortunately some of the social housing dwellers in my area seem to think that they and similar breeds make suitable pets for their situationI suppose it makes a change from the bull terrier variants that they also seem to favour. It makes me shudder when they trail past with a gaggle of little children and one of these things straining at the leash and lunging aggressively at other dogs. I know it isn't the dogs' fault - I think it was a huge mistake to get rid of dog licensing instead of increasing the cost and policing it.
I think they would be fine if they have enough space, if they are worked in some way and if the owner bothered to train them, and was assertive enough to maintain control of them in all possible situations. I guess this does probably rule out a lot of peopleThey are beautiful creatures though. I can see why people admire them.

This is Mr Dog's noisiest, yappy dog:
Can anyone ID the breed?
As you can see, it's not barking at me or even looking aggressive, but when photographed it was running free. It's a different matter when it's caged and Mr D's gates are open, as it clearly feels terrified something/someone will come in at any moment.0 -
Yes, Dawn & LIR - I wouldn't trust ay dog with sheep either,or with poultry.
I do agree that it is the owner responsibility to control them. They do seem to be an upsurge in big powerful dogs strutting about in towns. I think most are fine if well handled, but you would never leave one alone with a child.
It is a fashion thing, an appendage.
Dave that dog looks like a X lurcher/staffie or bull by the chest. They are used to bring down deer. Lurcher for speed. Could be wrong.
Blawing a hooli again & didn't get much sleep - everything creaking & groaning - including me. Feel like a half shut knife!0 -
afternoon all,
after 2 nights of agony, went to dentist, and now the offending tooth now belongs to the tooth fairy. think there might be another one joining it on Wednesday when I go back..
why do dentists talk to you like you have done something seriously wrong by drinking fizzy drinks... like you have committed the biggest crime ever... no wonder I don't like going lol...
we don't take the computer up to the caravan anymore, so this is why I am not on the old interweb much now...
for 2 reasons, one.. after bt made a boob, they said we could have a dongle free to use whenever for 2 years, now they have decided to bill us, mega amounts, and are now trying to tell us it was only the line rental for free....so we have stopped using it ... plus it is actually nice not having the computer on up there...
the floor/ceiling is not far off finished,
don't think I put a link up, but here is the bathroom suite that I am watching on the bay...still no bids
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301382720593?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
not exactly what I wanted, BUT... I do need my pennies to stretch...so what we would save on the bathroom suite will be a major amount to go towards the floor, and the tongue and grove panelling to cover the wall insulation etc...
to have the bathroom suite I liked, without a shower was over £1200. so it is a no brainer ...to buy a secondhand one..Work to live= not live to work0 -
CTC...... that looks really nice.. how big is the bath tho? does the pic make it look smaller ? had a thought tho as its the shape it is you could get one of those watering can type overhead showers and a circular rail with curtain central ?? whats the water pressure like ? could you fit shower off taps ? sorry lots of ????'s0
