Yes, South, but not South south.
Starting to drizzle with a sort of sleet. Was nice earlier but gone over.0 -
1st day of 2016 the conservatory warmed up enough to sit in.
I gave all the plants a watering, even the orchids, to wake them up from their winter rest. Not the cactii mind, I'll leave them for a bit.
Had a another look around the Dobbies bargain-bin and picked up a mahonia at 50% off and some Cymbidiums for £3, down from £15.
Ground is still to cold to plant anything, of course. I got 5 poppy roots from Morrisons for £2, so just put them in a pot in the coldframe for now.
Was repairing the awning after storm Desmond. The wind was so strong, the sleeve bolts have been partially pulled out the wall. Will need to replace and think about whether the awning should stay up during winter. Its main job was to keep rain off the succulents during the 'summer'.
Waiting for better weather...0 -
Well, that's a very nice Agarve. Mine all perished in the shed a few winters back.
Storm Desmond? Duncan or Dougal would be more appropriate I think. If storm Imogen came here we were going to call it storm Isa.
Did another coat on the front door which has to be left open as it's still not dry & it's perishingly cold. Did final coat on hall window - that's 4 coats in all - ridiculous really.
Been taking photos for listing on the bay even though it's very quiet on there one can but live in hope as they say.
Trailer all ready for water tank collection tomorrow - hadn't cleaned it out since some hoggets went off & I forgot about it! I'm a dirty gerty.0 -
hi all... went to see my ruby today... she was very "off" with me...:( it was as if she was saying "you left me"....
apparently she is doing well but to quote "a little madam"she adores the man and seems eager to please him BUT
he attempted to back her the other day.. young girl does the riding for him... she was as good as gold on 2 ups and downs then threw a paddy and went mad !! bucked the girl off then stood with a butter wouldn't melt look !!
hes a good man and wont give up...
geeze, he earns his money ! hes training 3 at same time at the mo... he must have 10 Weetabix for breakfast
dry cold sort of sunny day here [well there...near corfmullin]...0 -
He must love the job. Probably couldn't do it unless they did.
Snowed a bit & quite a ring around the moon. We might not be able to go anywhere tomorrow if the forecast is anything to go by...oh, well....0 -
Not around yesterday due to a huge Panto technical run-through lasting nearly 5 hours....:(
Then, when we got home and I went to put chickens to bed, I could hear Horse Woman's beast kicking-off, which was unusual. As it looked frosty, I thought stable door would be closed-up, so I went over to check.
There was only the scruffy pony in there, not the thoroughbred, and she had her head out top half of the door, so I whipped-down to Horse Woman's.....which was in darkness. Aaarrgghh!
I knew it would be difficult getting HW to hear, and if she was inside lying on the floor or something, futile, so I whipped back home to ring andsee if a neighbour had a key..... No!.... So we went back together and started banging. It was only 19.30ish.
Anyway, after banging on her bedroom window for 5 mins, we eventually got HW to hear us. Even her dog didn't bark, so I suppose it's gone deaf too!:rotfl: She'd actually gone to bed an hour before.
Thoroughbred died from a stroke on Thursday while we were both out, and the hunt collected the body. We saw nothing. He was almost 35. Pony was OK while the sheep were there, but they're over at ours now, so she's lonely. Apparently, with her thick coat the cold isn't an issue....:undecided
How was I to know?0 -
I think that the panto stuff sounds very full on Dave.
You're a good neighbour. If you feel uneasy at all it's best to check.
At uni a girl who lived in a van was very depressed & I couldn't raise her one night before an exam. I got the farmer to break into it, but she wasn't there having gone to the pub!:o
Only a slight dusting of snow so that's good.0 -
Having a big sale here!
Car just gone (the old one, failed it's MOT) and hoping to move on some hi-fi and a watch I never liked too.
That said, had a return request from Ebay buyer on the iPhone I sold - it's always mobis that cause aggro!0 -
Yes, returns are always a disappointment.
Not finding the bay that productive at the moment.
Decided not to go the oil route re heating & instead will go for an eco boiler stove - solid fuel. It will be cheaper & more efficient. Wood is readily available.
It will mean taking out the beautiful dark blue rayburn...............not the rayburn that the kitchen was built around. I'm very sad.............0 -

We've gone though quite a lot of oil, but with the loft uninsulated it's been like running 4 radiators up there until recently. I've stuck some insulation over the pipes as a temporary measure now, as the real stuff isn't arriving until after the survey in May.
British Gas have just pulled their free insulation deal, but they'll still do ours as we're on their list.
We've spent a hellava lot on logs too. That's why we have to change the wood burner. First winter we've been comfy though!
Panto run-through was faster tonight. We've cut out a few things. People are saying it's funnier than last year's. Sword fight went well, but I still managed to hypothetically kill a member of the audience when I went down at the end....:o
I must not drop my sword
Imust not drop my sword
I must not drop.............0
