I think with the modern grout & sealants & shower trays you don't need to tank?
The gritter is out & about - which is a sign it's to freeze.
As we have bog standard plasterboard on the two sides of the shower area, I'll not take the risk that my tiling or finishiing might let water past. If I knew then what I know now, it would have been cement board from the word 'go.' Tanking will take me 2 hours max, but it's not cheap.
This stuff, alfie: http://www.theunderfloorheatingstore.com/bal---wp1-waterproof-shower-kit-7272-p.asp?gclid=CNWT3aHC5soCFcrjGwodZjgEiw
You have the best of the weather tomorrowand we soft southerners are in for a dose of the worst.:(
You've earned it though! :A0 -
The shower we have was tiled using waterproof adhesive.
I do hope it will be okay.
This afternoon we saw, what looked like two whales on the Loch, but turned out to be two floating tree trunks. They were really large & could be a hazard. I would think.0 -

Probably fine. After all, that was what we'd have had, till I revolted because of the price my guy was wanting to charge.....and he's done dozens around here.
Very unpleasant outside just now and I'm pooped, because the wind woke me at around 04.00 and that was the last sleep I had.
It's coming in waves. 15 minutes ago I was in the field and it was blowy, but OK. Then, the next bout of heavy weather came over the hill and the wind whipped up to gale force, literally in seconds, so I'd to run for it, before I was drenched.0 -
hi all....
wow ! its a tad blowy here ! well actually its whipping across the fields !
garden heavy stone statues are over, chairs etc..
I was worried about the owl house roof but he was ok. the back of the house is to the wind so had no leverage.. be fun and games if the owl got loose.... I was working on a warning plan re the local cats etc ! I don't think it would have attacked but you never know....
im helping move box loads of stuff to boss's other house today...
I ache in every bone today after handling/holding/bracing 9 horses yesterday....
well I gotta go , stay safe folks0 -
Stay safe yaall.
Just low cloud here, but sun trying to break through the rain.0 -
Wow its bad here, never seen wind like it!!! Can hear loads of fire engines in the area,
Think it supposed to be easing around 3pm.
It looks as though the rain isn't touching the ground, but just blowing sidwards,,
Was a HUGE clap of thunder and lightening last night. Which I think woke the whole village up, as people were on fb talking about it lol.
Stream was up and over our bridge when we left the ranch last night, nothing we can do about it.. No pigs near there,
I think even people who manage their land well are struggling big time now with the amount of rain..
And I bet any money, the minute we have 2 weeks of hot weather there will be a hosepipe ban somewhere:rotfl:
Keep safe everyone, don't do unnecessary journeysWork to live= not live to work0 -
Today was the perfect day to... dismantle and collect another Freecycled greenhouse :rotfl:
The wind wasn't too bad when I started, and I'd got most of the glass out by the time the wind was up, but even carrying it was pretty risky. Sheets of glass could only be left flat on the donor's lawn, and those last panes came out a.s.a.p.
Anyway, got it all out (bar one pane) in one piece. My little trailer bounced and swung all over the place on the way home - no hope of getting the tarpaulin on it. Original plan was to erect it same day. THAT IS NOT HAPPENING! I shall wait until Wednesday. Or a month or two. Old green houses seem so much more solidly-built and sturdy than modern ones.
Mad lady (she is delightful) has now added a further four small horses to the mix in the top field. So, that's seven up there, one of ours and three donkeys down here. That plan, of no animals for the first year looks awfully shaky now...
Buzzed by a sparrowhawk on my garden path. There was a pigeon with it's throat ripped out, and I'd found and disposed of it in the woods. Hadn't expected anyone would be back for it! (S)He did a 90° turn round the side of my house at speed. Quite spectacular.
Off to secure a few barn doors and see what else is about to blow away. Me probably!0 -
Horrible here till around 15.30, and then, for around an hour, it quietened a little, which was just long enough to test my brushcutter and fix yet another post that had snapped.
It's back at hooley level now again, but the sky has cleared. We didn't have as much rain as other places, so there will be no floods in our area. According to the cameras, the river level is dropping.:)
Brushcutter's fine, so a cheap fix at £10.
I don't ever see any greenhouses on Freegle around here, not that I have time to mess with them just now.
Sparrowhawks don't care about humans; they've struck within feet of us several times in the last few years. Opportunists and very brave. :cool:0 -
It calmed down a little bit here for about an hour, but that was it... Wind still blowing strong!!
My green house has taken a hit, with one glass side panel smashed, and one plastic roof panel blown out and cracked through.
Got some pare glass, so once all this weather calms down, hubby can fix it for meWork to live= not live to work0 -
Ditto here - was able to walk outside at 3pm and be dry; now chucking it agaisn the windows.
Oh well - off to hide in the Library for an hour.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
