Hope Dave is right and the weather stays dry for you, IHS. Sending comforting thoughts to you and your Mum. And some cyber hugs if you feel able to accept them.

lir was in the 'nice' room at MSE Towers around lunchtime today. ;) I wonder if she brought them cake?

Very unpleasant for much of the time here today, just because of the wind, rather than wet stuff. It's drying out my new deliveries of logs nicely, but prevented any serious activity outdoors.:D

We've promised to do the Market in the nearby larger village from May to September, but it's possible we could squeeze in a couple of other months if the plants co-operate. We might need a bit of pocket money, as the year's begun expensively. :(

Hope the back eases, or at least that you find out what's wrong alfie. I'm avoiding going for my pensioner's MoT, despite an invitation from the Health Centre. I know exactly what's the matter with me, so I'll stay away till a few more pounds come off.....What letter? Oh, my short term memory is rubbish these days; must've recycled it! :o

Yes, all went well thanks. Just back home now, at that point of tiredness where your good for nothing. That said, all the fishes were looking hopeful after nothing to eat for 24 hours, so they were attended to ASAP.

Anyhow, service was just right with the minister giving a well judged tribute and folks we hoped to see were there; mum was feeling well enough to attend the reception afterwards and chat with old friends.

I reckon there was about 15 folks at the reception, a few more at the service. Everyone was felt it was a fitting farewell and not maudlin. 7 of mum and dad's carers attended, dad was well liked by them.

Just the paperwork now! I was at the Sheriff Court to present a writ regarding entitlement as executor as dad refused to write a will. After confirmation, the estate can be valued and distributed as per intestacy law in Scotland. Maybe by Easter?

We have snow! Luckily day off so don't have to drive in the ruddy stuff. DS1 had his interview on Tuesday, they're interviewing 11 and then having second interviews. Fingers crossed.

DD1 has signed up to do an AI course in the half term. Not sure what she plans to do with it but its another string to her bow.

  • Luceille all we have had here, is wintery showers, and reports of black ice around the place...the 'snow line' is about 5 miles up the road, so expect its white up there..

I am a strong believer in doing courses etc especially if they are free lol..

Before now, I just didn't have the time, but now I am actively looking out for courses, on Monday I started a 6 week course ( 2 hours once a week) on bush craft. I can now strip the bark off a stick :rotfl: next week it's starting a fire with 2 sticks lol.. Must admit I feel a bit out of it, as there is only a few of us there, and its all youngsters of a certain age which have dropped out of school for some reason, and has an adult with them...i do feel a bit awkward , so will go next Monday, and see how I feel then about continuing with the classes..
But still available n the look out for others..

Unfortunately hers isn't free but its reduced as she's a student. Love the sound of the bushcraft course I'd stick with it and not bother about the youngsters.

Good luck to DS, lucielle. :)

It's so important for youngsters to grab whatever experience they can find while they're young and receptive. Even if the course turns out to be duff, it's still something to put on the jolly old CV. ;)

You'll meet some 'interesting' folks in bushcraft I'd imagine, CTC. I'm only going by the web sites I've visited, mind! They're the best place to get olive coloured nylon rope if you lay hedges and are rubbish at getting them to stay together, like me....:o

Whoop Ds1 has got a second interview on Tuesday! Hmm not sure how much use she'll get out of the AI course unless she works on a dairy farm. She is quite interested in embryo transfers, so we'll see.
