Hope the Betta fish are betta than the guppies IHS.
Just been varnishing.....again. It's the doing 4 coats on each door & frame that seems tedious & as it's clear matt you can't really see what you've done or not, but they are starting to look the biz.0 -
Oh, I know about the varnishing! :undecided
In my case it's satin, but still tricky to know where you've been....
I do a bit now & again, then 'forget' for a while.
Slothful day, broken only by a Panto rehearsal in the mid afternoon. Still not really 'into' my part, but we don't get to choose, and if we did, it'd be chaos!
Our writer has just finished the one we'll be doing in 2017...
IHS, I'm sure your house is more than presentable. Hope everything goes as well as it can for you on Tuesday.0 -
Dave - surely you don't practice a year for panto? All that getting dressed up in women's clothes is becoming an obsession.0
-
We normally rehearse for a couple of months, but this year the spring half term is early, so we have only about 6 weeks.
And I'm not a laydee this year....but there may be some tights involved.
I don't think I have the best legs for tights. Will find out more soon.
Right, two loads of logs delivered, so I must away and sort them out. Getting prepared for this cold snap.0 -
First the good news: no tights required, and an Elvis wig provided.
Bad news: John Lewis wanted £5k+ for some fitted MDF wardrobes etc, so we'll probably pass on that!
As I said to DW, for £5k we could convert the spare half of the garage, which is already 1/2 way done, stick in a few more walls and create a dressing room/ linen store, then kit it out with painted units or something characterful from ebay.
Plant little seeds and sometimes they grow!0 -
Well that's incredible Dave - the prices.
We have made a closet & used the end of a curtain rail for a hanging space & will & will use some old unit I bought ages ago for shelving - it was one of those really well built in the 50's type of school thing that has loads of sections. Will be ideal for jumpers, tee shirts, socks etc. The closet is L shaped so quite easy to order different storage areas. It's quite big so that will hopefully help me be a bit tidier!
I bought some pretty boxes very cheap in Dunelm & I note they have plastic coated wire baskets that slide under a shelf so I may get some. Oxfam have some lovely hand crafted Fair Trade rush oblong baskets that I bought for £4 each - these are good for little bits & bobs. I'm pleased with it so far.0 -
