Morning all,
Looks as though we all done the decent thing and let the lotto roll over ..
It was lovely yesterday, a day without rain!!!
Cold last night and the forecast is saying cold and ground frost come the weekend/ next week. There is even talk of snow in some areas
Alfie, I remember you talking about that stuff a few times now...
Is it me or is it horrible and dark until late in the mornings???Work to live= not live to work0 -
CTC I've just used poo and old, used compost for the beds, but I'm finding that the soil is a bit too good now and lacks 'body.' Hard to explain, but I'll be putting more real soil in some. I think my soil is a bit on the light side to start with.
Planted some trees in the dry interlude yesterday, though only stuff which doesn't mind being in a hole full of sloppy soil, like alder and willow. I'm adding another 20 trees to the woodland bit we made two years ago, as I've given up trying to get more light into the stream-side.
Not much news. I'm finding my role in the panto difficult to get into this year. I don't seem to be so good at 'nasty,' but someone's gotta do it.....:(
I used to do the Lottery, but haven't for years. I wouldn't want to win it now. Too much responsibility. Too many choices.0 -
Just went out to collect the food waste bin which has only been in use for two weeks.....to find it shattered into about 50 pieces, strewn down 75m of the road.
It was emptied in the dark at around 7am today, and then, being light, must've blown into the path of a vehicle going east.
Highly ironic, as last night we offered a spare bin that wasn't claimed to a neighbour who'd missed-out on it. :rotfl:
Not sure I want another anyway. If there'd been an accident, we could be sitting here now, feeling guilty, even though it wasn't our fault.0 -
Really wet & windy here.
OH has doc appointment & then Physio in Ullapool, so that will be good.
Alders have done amazingly well here Dave - The height & girth they've reached is brilliant. Apparently it can be used like mahogony it's so attractive.
I'm wondering about XMas trees - putting some in - any thoughts anyone?0 -
Choille, what I can gather it takes approx 5 years from planting to getting to the right size to chop for Christmas trees
This guy does really well, and gets on the local TV news most years.
Here is a link to his website.. Might give you some info.. He has his price list on the website too
https://www.gower.christmas
I have thought of trying to find out about the little potted ones that are about half a foot, I need to try and find out what flavour they are, and if they are easy to propergate ..or buy them after Christmas one year, reduced right down, and then sell them the following Christmas lolWork to live= not live to work0 -

Has briefly stopped raining. Still got major floods but managing to get around.
DS1 has got an interview for a new job on Tuesday. He could part of a team responsible for 5000 sheep. Keep your fingers crossed.
We have booked our weekend away to Skye. It will be at the end of the month and will have to decide which vehicle we are taking nearer the time.
DS2s mini is nearly on the road. A couple of tweaks here and there and a windscreen would be good! Well he's got the windscreen but the seal isn't right.

Thanks RAS & CTC. Will have a think.
CTC - I have an idea, but will PM you.
Lucielle - Hope the rain goes soon & everything goes well. Get in touch when you are coming up please.0 -
Oh Skye. I do like it on Skye. I visited before I was OldStyle and even before I could crochet. Although I liked it I don't feel I ever really got the best of it especially visiting a wool shop saying something like 'nice'. <<< idiot! :rotfl: It's looking hopeful for a visit this year fingers crossed.
The bins are all just too light aren't they. Recycling bins blow over anyway, strewing their loads all over if they can't be propped up (which on a hill ours is in a sticky predicament) and because the bin is emptied smack bang on school run duty I can't be there to take it out to them. They are a danger, can cause accidents and a lot of damage. I wonder who is responsible in the eyes of the law?
Can I ask a gardening question? On one of my other MSE haunts they were telling me that my rabbit waste would be ideal for compost. I've thought about it and feel my plot isn't big enough to require a compost bin so going back to the plan of a kitchen composter (although already spreading egg shells and tea on fruits) but wondered if I could scatter fresh rabbit droppings amongst and in the soil?0 -
Why not dig a trench and bury them?
