Weather is absolutely awful. Serious rain and no sigh of any let up. Think I'll go in with OH tomorrow as there are some serious floods and the 4x4 can manage it better than my car.

Was crapping my pants going to pick DS1 up. Took DD2 with me to flood watch so they didn't catch me out. You just can't see them in the dark.

    Stay safe everyone.

Looks like it's drying-up a bit for us with rain at night over the next few days, then drier, cooler weather, starting next week.

One of the main roads was allegedly out of action this morning, but we used it this afternoon. Rivers were bank-high, but not seriously out in the fields. I saw a heron patrolling a ditch, unable to stand in the river or see into the muddy water.

Everything is amazingly green for the time of year, which will all end badly if temperatures go seriously the wrong side of zero.....and they surely will at some point. :(

I have dormant trees to plant, but if I dig a hole, it just fills with water. Must also get my order in for some new hedge plants. I have a feeling Burnet /Scotch roses will do well here, as they tolerate dry, sandy soil.

IHS, I have just dried-out my dahlias in their pots this year and left them that way. I'll let you know how it goes. It always works for cannas, ginger lillies and arums. :)

Hope the waters don't get any higher - the rain stops Lucielle - take care.
It was dry here most of the day & with the wind it does seem less of a bog, but it looks really nasty for tomorrow with snow forecast.
  • Morning all,

    ITS STOPPED RAINING!!!!!!

If we didn't have fog, I am sure the sun would be out lol..

    Dry crisp morning....

Dropped youngest off to work, and had a quick nose in poundland.. They have got their gardening section up and running, and have got their usual plants, seed potatoes etc in, I was chatting to the manager , and he said they will be getting more stock and plants in once the season kicks in...so I bought a few bits etc....

Want to put a soil conditioner, top dressing in the greenhouse beds, what would be the to use do??

I have a good 2 inch growth of rhubarb stalks. It's set to snow Fri - Mon with night time temps being -1 and day time no more than 2 all next week too. It's going to cause so much confusion for my poor rhubarb.

I am saving my loose teas and egg shells to scatter over my plot. Other than that I still have 2/3rds of it to dig over and make good. It just hasn't been the weather.

ctc......I swear by 6X. its like a peat but its compost. I have dressed all my beds for YEARS with it. I also always put a handful in the middle of my tubs/baskets etc. you don't need to put it on thickly. water it lightly and all the goodness creeps in :D

been a dry but dull day here. temps have dropped to 4d tonight so may be a cold dip coming in :o
