Daydream fund challenge part 4

Gosh it rained hard last night, some serious water on the roads. I'm having a couple of days off but its not going quite to plan.
DD2 helped me blitz the living room and with painkillers managed to wash the carpet. Had a new TV delivered very early from JL, our Christmas present to each other purchased on our Edinburgh trip. I really wanted to have it mounted on the wall above the fire but it wouldn't work. I did decide to get a wall bracket and keep it in its original position but should be able to get access to the shelves behind it. Went off and got the bracket and OH came home armed with the drill. Got the bracket fixed, got the tv out the box to find it had a cracked screen. AAAgh, back on the phone to jl and just have to wait for an email to say when they would deliver.
Whilst in the village we called into the charity shop and saw a big squishy chair that DD1 would love to have in her room. DD2 sent a text to her brothers to see if they wanted to join in to buy it and they said yes. However their was another lady interested and she ended up buying it.
Going to start my Christmas cooking today then hopefully I won't end up knackered for the big day by trying to cram everything in in one day.
Hopefully should be going to boot camp on Saturday, depending on my back. Last Saturday I did a 5K shuffle with DD2, who did nothing but complain and as soon as the man shouted 'Go' shot off like Usain Bolt never to be seen again!

well I spent the night tossing and turning ! I was soooo hot ! I don't even sleep with a quilt ! I just have a throw, window open and no heating in my room.... I suppose having 2 mutts and a cat curled up with me insulates me ...
im just hoping im not sickening for something..
im really cross with "ugly sister" they gave up the canal boat [sold] and moved into the house they own [no mortgage].. but she has announced she wont be down before xmas to see mum/dad as they are way too busy !! neither work now.. she hasn't even seen mums new flat ! last visit was august. she lives near Cambridge. and to rub it in, an old old uncle has died in Suffolk and sister asked mum if she was going to the funeral.. no, mum said and US said well "alf" can take you !!! oh yeh , im gonna drive to Suffolk for the day but god help that she could drive to Hampshire.... makes me wild !!
rant over..:o
its a cold but sunny day today. bit of a stiff breeze..
gonna keep fitting roller blinds today ... oh and an airport run !0 -
Take care Lucielle - what a pain about the TV.
Don't do too much. Good planning with the cooking.
Raining here too & pretty soggy.
Alfie - I always wanted a sister but I suppose you get ones that ain't that great.0 -
Morning all
Wow what a night, and the wind is still howling around the place!!
A farmers market has been cancelled today, along with other ones around south Wales over the last week or so, not good really for people relying on the run up to Christmas sales!!
Was going to go to a small poultry auction today, their last one until the new year, but best place to be is either indoors or very local..
Luceille you take care..
The geese have stopped laying now, but the ducks are still laying !!
The sale went through on Thursday, I must admit I was sad, and was thinking had I done the right thing, and then I thought, we can now rip out the other side of the house's floors and ceilings and call in the builder to renew them !!Work to live= not live to work0 -
Got the hogget & deliverd it to those who'd bought some. A long day & didn't get in untila fter 9 pm. The roads were awful. Really flooded & a really nasty day. Blew a hooley all night & hasn't stopped raining yet.
Not long surfaced and feel I haven't slept & rubbish.0 -

That's the way to view it. The Ranch is the future, and the quicker it's done, the longer you'll have the full use of it, especially the land.
I think everywhere is having a Desmond today, though at present it's dry here and our renewed inspection chamber hole is still drying out. I might be able to concrete it in correctly tomorrow.
Believe it or not, I was mowing grass on Wednesday & Thursday. Looks good to do more today, but I'm indoors, levelling floors, as we have a couple of laminate jobs going down on Monday. Levelling isn't my favourite!
I have a feeling the village Market isn't going to survive much longer. Various people have pulled-out. Oh well, we can sell at the gate, but we might end up somewhat overstocked next summer!0 -
Choille, take care up there
Davesnave. Yep that's the way we are looking at it, but it was sad to leave go of my very large hoard!!
Pity to hear people are dropping out of the village market, maybe it might be worth doing it in the spring/ summer months,
Eldest is 21 on Monday!!!! Where did the time go???? So he is off out to town tonight with his mates, he's not really a drinker, so I will be on tender hooks until he comes home , what ever time that is..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Worst of the wind seems to have blown through (fingers crossed), just torrential rain.0
-
The wind has dropped here, but still raining heavy - it's nearly 48 hours with no let up.
Poor wet sheep.
Dave hope the market picks up next year - it's sad when these things don't pan out as everyone puts in such an effort.
Really feeling the cold today - all this being soggy all the time.0 -

The commercial stallholders will go where they will be supported best, but to be honest, I could never see a village + local area of 600 souls keeping a market going.
People generally don't drive the 2 miles from the town to visit, mainly because they have their own events and those of other larger villages to attend. We still have a good butcher in the little town, so most folk who shop for fresh meat just go there. They don't see the need to go direct to the producers.0
