Great stuff, CTC. I can see that upgrading the footpath to a cycleway should provide more potential customers, but without the problems a road would bring on your split site. Pete's farm might have an idyllic location, but he has problems with the road that splits it in two, or rather with the people who speed along it. Anyway, sounds like your Ranch is going up-market! :D :T

I guess it will help a lot, not having a business rent to pay any more. Here's to the new ventures!

As you may have guessed plumbing is going on here and we may have sparkies around tomorrow as well. It's all looking good for a switch-on of the new heating system by Wednesday!:D:j

Meanwhile, the weather remains wearing, but warm. Pete was in a grumpy mood when he took his sheep off our fields today; he'd suffered various mechanical breakdowns and he was very tired and rattled by the constant wind and the threat of more heavy rain. The river is already high, but I think he'll get away with it, for now anyway. It has seemed very wet, but that's just because the rain is coming sideways. I stood in the lee of the barn and watched it driving across in swirling curtains. It was quite pretty from there! :)
  • Thanks Davesnave.. I will still be renting another place for a while, but at least ii tt is easy in/ out options, until we can sort out the ranch properly, as its only half the house we are concentrating on at the moment..so when we move there, we will be sleeping in the caravan, but will have a fully functioning kitchen and bathroom , and youngest will have his bedroom to a stage where he could sleep in it lol..

Yep the rain was coming down in sheets here too!! The ground now is so saturated that it's just holding on the top of the ground, I am sooo glad I don't over stock, as i should imagine all this rain has caught loads of people out re land etc...

Yes, I was glad that the sheep left today, before they had a chance to really poach-up the fields. 49 was too many for long term, but they had a lot of eating-down to do, and they did it! :D

The fields here are all really green for the time of year. It won't feel a bit like December tomorrow.

Good luck with the new plans CTC - Glad you are getting somewhere with them.

Gorgeous field shelter Alfie-I would love something similar for the sheep. The breeding ewes get into the ruined byre - the back wall is a bit tumbled in & the roof looks perilous, but it will have to stand up for now.

Dave a good move on by the sound of things plumbing wise.

Roads terrible around here, but Inverness & back. Loads of deer on the roads - licking the salt probably.
    Really cold & clear.

OH's pre-op went well even though we've been there before & we had a very long wait. Just have towait for the shout now.Wouldhope that we have the heating sorted as it's so not good with these temps. We also need to do stairs up to the door. The slidey scaffolding boards are not really safe for OH in the slightest - especially whencovered in snow& ice! The door that now has a very bashed up frame with a three inch gap at the top & no lock! We do need doors on in the house.
Gosh it's a freezing early Winter.

temp solutions......used bedding from sheep shelters, wood chip, old carpet, shavings, dirty hay, shavings.

Any of those possible for you?

I'm gonna try & knock steps up from pallets. Thought a ramp was the answer, but it should be steps according to the occupational therapist at the hospital. It's coz of the hip damage & the boards bending, not good apparently.
The OT really pressed home how impt this is as OH could end up in traction for 2 months if he falls.
