    hi all
stay safe choille, you are obviously gonna get the brunt of the weather compared to us lot of southern softies ;)
im chasing up the "parcel" at the mo.. seems to have dropped off radar

it is a fierce wind here today [and last night] but dry so far.. im still in my dressing gown trying to get up the courage to go into town to get car fuel.. my back/hips are very painfull but prob my fault with chopping wood etc...
anyone up for rehoming a gourgeous hound ? local forum poster has put up pics for a 2 yr old. if my old gal was not "on the cusp" id have seriously considered it . he needs space and a leader.. but fab looking mutt.. I get so tempted but have to be logical..

son goes to Canada early Tuesday for a snowboarding trip [whistler etc]..
take his mind off his disasterous teeth saga...:o
we have put in an official complaint and looking for refund/compensation.. we don't know if the jaw bone is damaged now and that it cant be rectified :(

but on a happy note, son is going to paint my hall which is a big job [2 stair cases] and ive got all new roller blinds to put up. so by xmas it should look like a hall and not a drop in centre ;)

right I gotta get dressed and shift my butt....
    have a safe day y'all

p.s. I hope your "hole " is sorted dave

Thanks Alfie - I am pleased that your hall is coming along. Paint can do wonders to lift a place.

No parcel as yet, but I'm sure you'll chase them. You shouldn't be sending me stuff - although I can't wait if I'm honest.
Didn't sleep much last night & all was white, but it has lifted a lot. Winds still strong but not like through the night.
Ebay is very dead so am resisting listing anything else as it's soul destroying at the mo. I have stuff stacked everywhere too - like something off one of those hoarding documentaries where people come to prise your rubbish out of your hands & hurl it into landfill.

The sky is white - ominous looking. I must gird my self & move some hurdles down from the apportionment & back in by before someone has off with them. I had a lick bucket nicked last year - can't believe the cheek of some folks - plus they must have used a car as they are so heavy - you ain't gonna run with one of those.

OH slept out in the house the last few nights & someone tried the door which was very very very odd. By the time he'd managed to get up there was nothing/noone to be seen. You would think there was no one about -creeping about in the middle of the night here, but just shows you eh? Unless he was having a deam - he's been having them with all the medication he's on.

Gosh I hope no one blows away in these winds! It's really quite bad here.

We seem to have had a really tough year this year and it's not letting up. In the last month we have had another leak in the kitchen roof which is about the 4th in 18 months, then we had the hedges removed which was good but the fence blew down which was bad, the guy who is doing it keeps letting us down but we have elderly neighbours who like this guy so we don't want to use someone else (it's not worth the hassle), then Thursday night we come home to another leak but this time from what we think could be a burst pipe. Call emergency home assist which we luckily have...10am Saturday morning, which got pushed back to 3pm, nice guy and it's the upstairs lol that's leaking. Luckily the damage is mainly in the pantry, but toilet Lino flooring ripped up, toilet isolated and not in use, 3 big holes in the ceiling, lots of water damage and a door frame that has swollen and split. Yay. So then this morning I put a wool wash on and my clever intelligent washer decided to change this to a cotton wash and I didn't notice. This is towards the end of what has felt like a very tough year already. So I'm now ready for 2016 lol

On the positive, hmm, well, we are healthy and we have a roof over ur head. We now have water and heating again which we didn't Friday and yesterday. So I have to be grateful for small mercies lol now do you think my home insurance will replace the toilet? Lol
  • Crazy, crazy weather. Made to an early start to drive over to parents and it was like a monsoon across the Clyde valley with water streaming across the motorway.

Then a bit of sun, but heavy downpours. Raced home and braced for snow overnight.

The wind blew out one of the plexi-panels in the cover I used to keep the rain off the succulents. Had a quick look around, but I think it's in another garden now.

    It's horrid.

OH snapped the key for the house door - in the lock. He's phoned joiner & he's stoving the door in. It's a double glazed unit & was a temp door, but it's all a bit Mad Max & will probably end up costing a small fortune.

Oh gosh, Fay and choille, tough times indeed! :( You need a really decent run of better luck now, right through into the New Year and beyond....in fact probably into 2017 in choille's case.

And there was me, feeling grumpy because I found a small chip on the edging in our new kitchen....:o:o:o It's nothing DD2 can't sort wth her acrylics, but reading of your woes puts a true perspective on it.

Mind you, the plumber hasn't fired up the boiler yet. I'll have plenty of chances to catch up! :rotfl:I cannot believe that commissioning the heating will go without a hitch, but then I can't quite grasp the concept of proper heating at all; it's been so long.....

Yesterday, MiL and SiL got our living room up to 24c by practising some kind of black art with the wood burner and closing all the doors. That was 24c on the far side of the room where it usually reads 17c. OK, the rest of us froze, but it was impressive.

All the Outlaws have gone now, and DW drove back with them as she wanted a carpet they have spare. She's determined to get the two larger bedrooms functional before Christmas. Something tells me that the novelty of sleeping in bunk beds has worn off. :rotfl:

No proper news here.Like everyone, we've been in the midst of one huge gale, which has now abated, leaving an extremely warm night for late November. Of course, this makes me complacent, because although I'm not sure if any plumber or elecrician will show tomorrow, the forecast suggests it's still not vital they do.

Of course, that could all change....

It's pheasant season again. Must admit I'm not getting any more fond of them, but it's a shame to turn away free food. :o

The door came away from the frame with a lot of hammering & banging. I am pleased as I didn't want the thing smashed.

OH reckoned he could get a bath ready, but he didn't & the house is so cold I left him to it. I'd rather be mucky than frozen. I'll get a good wash in front of the stove & the hair can wait.
It's still blowing a gale here.
I'm fed up with Winter already.
Have to go over to Inverness tomorrow, so I'd better get up a bit sharper than I have been doing!

Me: Can you put that pipe under the boxing-in and bring it out here, so it will be neat and unobtrusive?

Him: Oooh, err, it'll be hard getting it in there now.....

    Me: Oh!

    Him: (disappears for a fag)

Me: (fetches angle grinder ) "Wheeeeeeeee!"

Him: (returns) Oh, I see what you've done....yes I should be able to get the pipe in there now.

    ME: :D:D:D:D:D:D
  • Lol Davesnave...

Well its been one of those days, done practically nothing, yet achieved alot lol

Had another meeting with footpath people, who want to turn the footpath into a cycle track , so it joins the village to the other cycle tracks down the valley... They brought the plans on what they would like to do, if the funding they put in for is granted, all subject to us saying yes... Which after our first meeting, and us saying our main concerns, they listened, and it does work out we will get new fencing, new gates, and they want to take away part of the bank opp the house entrance and rebuild it , and they said they will do a stone wall etc.. Will see if I can take a PIC of the plan etc to show you.. It will def be good for us, as they will tarmac all the lane, renew the so called bridge etc.. So its a big fat yes from us!!!

The second thing is, I put the feelers out if anyone would be interested in buying my stock etc, and yes, they want to take over the renting of the unit we moved to in August!m, but they don't want to buy the business, so this is all going g through fi gets crossed by Thursday, so we have managed to find a storage unit to store my personal stuff...

So great news!! I can hopefully now have the time to concentrate on the ranch, and put into practice the ideas that I have been trailing over the last year or two...
