looks a bargain to me CTC. will make parking/driving etc so much "smoother" for you. you get posh fencing aswell !! can you tap into the new water mains pipe ?
  • They are laying a water pipe , so if we need to change it in the future , then we do not need to dig up the new tarmac path..

This was one of our concerns, that they have listened too...

Some of our friends park their cars up the lane, and walk down because of the bumps and potholes ..

Plus with all the trees they will be cutting down on the concrete shed side, should keep us in wood for a while , and all we got to do is split it lol

So fingers crossed they can get the funding..

This is just part of the plan.. As there is a lot more path further on past us..

Looks like a significant refurb of your boundaries + water supply, CTC. A bargain, if you ask me! :D:beer::cool:

You'd think they'd bury the water mains deeper than 600mm, wouldn't you? But no, that's as deep as the village main runs through here, (if that) so it's no wonder Pete nearly put a gate post through it two years ago!

I will cross everything in the hope that the funding is granted....:)

....and also for lucielle's DD, because shingles is a horrible thing to have, especially when a teenager. :(

Well it must be Christmas or something....CTC with her Grand Design, and I'm sitting here, toasty warm, with a real radiator pushing out some gentle heat behind the desk. Yes, we have proper central heating for the first time in 7 years!!!:j:j:j

OK no programmer yet and the boiler is running on a 3 pin plug until the sparkies return, but it's luxury....:D

And about the warmest December night you're likely to find anyway! :rotfl:

Yes, Lucielle Hope daughter is okay & not in too much pain. It is a horrid virus. Poor thing specially at this time.

    CTC - looks very posh.

Dave - well done on the heating - long time in coming so all the sweeter.

DD2 seems to be ok. She's got to wait until she goes 'crusty' lol. Spoke to school about the exam and they're going to postpone it.

DS1 has returned.......sigh. He's off to visit DD1 at uni today and back at the weekend.

My back is still sore but am slightly more mobile.

Thanks for the advice Alfie I'll tell him.

I missed the back problem. lucielle. Hope it continues easing for you. :) Pesky things, backs, although mine is rarely a problem, compared with DW's.

Woke up to find the office at 22c instead of the usual 13 - 16c, so we obviously need to turn the rads down and get more controls sorted. Mind you, it seems almost tropical outside. I realise all that stops further north. I wonder if we are going to have a 'winter of two halves' like the last one? For those of you in Scotland I hope not, but if it goes along mild here and then there's a sudden cold snap, plants could really be caught out. That few degrees of frost we had a fortnight back knocked some 'hardy' things here, like the fatsias. They'll recover, of course, but like the plants, people get sloppy and unready too. :o

The loft insulation chap is due back here soon, but if the fluffy stuff isn't coming till well into January, I'm doing a temporary fix on all the pipes.

Like you, choille, I have found storing stuff to be a risky business. We put a good quality basin in the barn, ready to re-use in the bathroom, but it looks like 'someone' chipped it when working on the bog being installed down there. .....:(

Well - Alfie. I've been doing everything & nothing - going no where fast.
But I have had a shower as it seems milder & needs must. Got all the paint out of my hair.

No joiner - again - becoming very hit & miss. Would have liked him to put some doors on, but not to be, also hoping he'd help figure out some techie gadget that someone kindly sent to me.
Mr Choille is sat with a magnifying glass & a confused look reading the manual.

I had left some huge floor tiles in the car that came from Homebase clearance sale - £3.70 @ box that does 1.2M. What a weight. Shifted 6 boxes into the house. I thought what a great price & phoned Homebase to keep us another 3 boxes as they'll do the back hall as well as the utility which is what I'd bought for. They are a taupe colour & really perfect for there. You can't really beat that price.

Have to go East tomorrow to pick up meat & also possibly go view a coal bunker that I requested on Freegle - will take some shifting as it's a concrete one. Looked at plastic ones in Homebase & they'd never survive a stiff breeze here. Also they are over £80 - for a plastic box.
