You must give me your address or I'll set the dogs on you......

    Funny Dave....

  • Morning all,

Was put and about most of the day yesterday..don't know whether it's my age etc , lol, but I just can't make a decision anymore especially with final decisions on the house/ ranch..

We put more floorboards on the wall temp fixing, but they do seem too dark?? Def going to use them as door headers etc

On my travels I bought some reduced plants I bought 4 pots of flaming Katie's they were big pots of 5 plants in each reduced down to 50p per pot ( so 10p per plant,)
And I also bought 2 dendrobium reduced from £12 each down to 50p.. The flowers are dying back, so help how do I look after them ?? Lol there looks as though there are rooted shoots at the bottom of the plants so was thick ng of transplanting them..

Hi CTC - No it's not your age, just seeing so many options is confusing.

I don't know if the plants are annuals or not - Dave will know what you do.

CTC - if you are using timber as wall covering I think it needs to be treated to make it fire resistant? Would not want to risk toasted CTC.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

No he won't! He didn't even know what Flaming Katie was...the only flaming Katie he knew of was that awful gobby Hopkins woman.:rotfl:

But he knows now. :D It's the plant he has in the cloakroom, which still hasn't stopped flowering. Apparently, when they do, it's a bit of a booger to persuade them to start again tho'....:(

How to Get Kalanchoe Plant to Bloom Again

Although this compact, little house plant is easy to grow, getting it to re-bloom can be a challenge.
    • Long, sunny days followed by shorter hours of daylight are needed to set flower buds.
    • If you move the plant outside for the summer, keep it in the shade. Morning sun is fine.
    • Beginning in early October, keep the plant in a dark room for 14 hours each night for 2 weeks, and give it moderate light during the day.
    • Water it minimally and don't fertilize during this time. Shriveled, yellow leaves are a sign that it's too dry.
    • Flower buds will appear in about 6-8 weeks. Then you can resume with normal care. Flowering may be erratic, but the foliage will still be attractive.
So, not my kind of plant at all, I'm afraid. :o I like ones that are easy to please, even if they disappear at this time of year. I have a feeling some of mine will start that disappearing act this weekend....Brrrr!

EDIT: I just spotted the orchids. :o

  • Thanks RAS, I didn't know that...when we put up another board up, it was too dark for the room, so we are going to use the 170 odd year old floorboards to cover the new concrete lintels etc so they will look like beams etc

We thought we would try these lamenate flooring boards on the wall, and I think it works, so going with these, looks better than in the pics

It's probably more likely down that way, where it's a little more affluent and there are folk from Plymouth and other urban places passing through.

Ironically, the honesty box seems to work best in workaday locations like this. I remember visiting a guy in the South Hams AONB, who said he'd had to stop his box system because the money kept going AWOL.

Boxes at the end of long farm drives will always be vulnerable. Here, we can see our box from the house, though we don't watch it or run a camera, as there's no need. We could if we had to, though. :D

    Like that wall CTC! :cool::T
