Alfie, you are always so kind and thoughtful :D

Choille, the rain here is wild and I imagine it is worse up your way. Paperwork can be dull and often endless however there is a sense of satisfaction when it is all done ;)

My winter coat is fabulous, I was out in a real downpour and it kept me warm and dry plus the hood tightens so no more fighting with it to keep it on!

PLeased that you have a god Winter's coat Rummer - sounds cozy.

    The waterproof is a must.

Wet here again, but bright between showers.
Just had a wardrobe collapse - one of those cheap canvas jobs that will only hold a few blouses & I've been squeezing heavy coats into it. It is infuriating as the rail has two lugs & they just bend & the whole thing just doesn't work...............arggggggggggggggggggg
  • Hubby just started sanding back the old floorboards thstbwe replaced..and was thinking of cladding the wall behind where the kitchen units etc are going.. What do you think??

Also what co!our worktop would you go for? Which will be more or less butted up to the boards,

The old boards will go down just below the PowerPoint socket, which are a pewter co!our

re a work surface... a creamy colour would be neutral and then you can add colour in other ways ?

I am with Alfie on the kitchen ideas CTC. The wood looks fabulous and I think neutral cream would fit well. Normally I would say a natural wood kitchen however it can be really hard to effectively blend different wood colours together.

When I win the lottery I am going to have a cream and wood kitchen with egg shell slim rectangular tiles and a floor that does not require to be hand washed :D The current kitchen comes straight from the 70s and although we painted the doors and put down a neutral floor it looks old and tired. However it is filled with light, functional and filled with potential.

CTC - you should go round the sheds & look at work tops. There's a massive selection out there & they aint cheap - well I don't think they are, but it's animportant bit of kit & you want to get it right & not just the colour, but what it's made from & depth etc.

Freezing here & very wet - snow forecast so that's handy!
OH suggested we go & get some fuel, but as it was getting late on in the day I wasn't so sure & reluctently went as I needed sheep feed, but the fuel place was shut - as I kinda thought it would be, so not a good venture out & really nasty run home.

Glad to get the stove lit. Feels like Winter.
Hate all this talk of war. We can't afford to put enough bobbies on the beat, yet seems we have the money to bomb.

We realised we couldn't have a wood-look floor and wood worktops, because they might clash, so we went with a fairly mid-toned Duropal top with quite a few colours in it. It's the Taurus Stone in this selection:
    http://www.duropal.co.uk/samples/

We had to go reasonably dark to make a contrast with our ivory units.

For your worktop you might want to pick up the green colour of your other furniture. In the range above, something like the Mirabelle Corro.

We went with Duropal because it was offered and its good, but there's Axiom too:

Duropal & Axiom are probably the two best standard tops. There's others, some more expensive than the real thing!

In the utility, we just have a Howdens' top. It looks cheaper, but it does the job.

I was out and about too today, choille, picking up vittals in Exeter and big lumps of wood and pipe insulation in Crediton. Funnily enough I decided to drop in at one of our local log suppliers to order a Transit tipper load....and they were closed too. :(

Despite navigating some appalling lanes to dodge much of Exeter and weaving through all the traffic there no problem, I managed to clout the van's nearside mirror when facing some large lorries in Crediton, when there was really plenty of room. It's only cracked. :( I couldn't understand it as I hadn't hit the curb, but looking at the Oogle the bloomin telegraph pole is so close to the road...

I see what you mean about the telgraph pole - annoying. Sorry you also had a fuel-less trip.

I really must shift the sheep in -by tomorrow. Hope the joiner comes & I'll recruit him into the plan.....if he actually turns up.
