We only need a 1000mm sink base unit and either 2 x 400mm or 1x500mm and 1 x400mm, at the moment anyway..
Yes that's the type of look I was thinking of, or a mid range co!our brown like an old seasoned wood if that makes sense..
Also I was thinking of gun metal co!our sockets?? But will have to see them in the flesh so to speak,Work to live= not live to work0 -
I used a Shaker type of door & painted them in a Satin Wood matt & they have come up well & I was able to buy more easily when I found I didn't have enough. I did get mine off Gum Tree . They'd come from Wickes & I have bought more to match in & they are cheap, but sturdy, but they were still in their original boxes the ones I got off Gum Tree. I didn't like the handles that came with them & bought new ones from Screw Fix.
Taupe is a nice colour & goes with most things/colours, but if you have stone then you don't want to go too dark or it will look gloomy. Cream is a lovely colour, but will show every finger mark too!
I did buy a very good work top as I wanted a thick one - they look much better & also an upstand to go with that, but painted units are good & you can buy cheap & get a good finish yourself easily & when you want a change you can redo them.
Don't like all the weather we are having flung our way...................
You could do a coloured was on the floor boards to tie in with the colour or go for a striking contrast.
The worlds your oyster when it comes to colour.
The Valspar paint range will make you up any colour in any finish - even if you see a colour you like in a magazine you can take that in & they will make it up for you.0 -

Nice website for browsing through for inspiration I find CTC.0 -
I would also go cream CTC as it will work with any colour you put with it. Wood can be more tricky and I think unless you buy a good quality wooden door it can risk looking cheap. It sounds like the room will be beautiful. Have you looked on any of the websites that sell second hand kitchens. They are usually vety expensive kitchens that people are having replaced, but sometimes you find people selling the odd couple of units too. I can't remember what the place was called. Also going into local kitchen suppliers and seeing if they are selling off any of their display units.0

I get that link Fay - It's called usedkitchens & it is ridiculously expensive for often decade old kitchens that have cost a lot of money when new, but are priced far too high for old & used.
The prices in sowrooms are rigged hig because they want you to take out credit, but you can beat them down for cas - I believe.
You can get a bespoke look with cheap painted units & .good handles & worktop.0 -
its hard work being a dog here0

Funny, I have a moggy that's in exactly the same position, alfie, but she's on the floor as close to the fender as she can be.....:)
Remember I said the rules re converting barns to residential had been relaxed? Well....

I must admit the views are pretty spectacular there, but no services, just a couple of block & tin sheds.
Quite a renovation project, and somehow I don't think it'll be affordable homes!
Meanwhile, I read in the parish rag that a small deputation attended the last Parish Council meeting to express concern about a building project in their part of the village. The clerk told them that their representations had been noted, but as no proposal to build had yet been received........ Sometimes, the grapevine goes into hyperspace here and arrives earlier than events themselves! :rotfl:0 -
bl**dy hell dave ! do the new rules mean you have to use old barn structure or is it the plot it sits on ??
LIR would be laughing ... shes got 3 in better nick than that !!0 -

One requirement that's been removed, is the need for these buildings to be sustainable. Miles from public transport, many barns in the country would fail as sustainable homes.0 -

Surely advertising it as a "4 bedroom barn" breaks all kinds of rules/laws about advertising?
While we don't have bit over 3 acres here, at least we had a house that was only around 2/3 the price of that (before we did the reno and extension that is) and a decent garden - about the size of a tennis court I think.
I kinda do get the idea that the barn won't be affordable housing! Basically you're paying the money for the 3 acres, demolish barn and build something instead? You may be seeing Kevin McCloud around there soon!0
