I thought I had wiped all the photos on my "smart" phone, replacement for the brick that has lost its surface and was becoming transparent.
Then I was trying to work out how to get back to the main menu and saw something that said "unhide." Was not sure what I had hidden, so hit the tab. My photos!
In October '14 I thought I'd lost all of that month's photos, as the whole folder was missing. So, I kicked Recuva into action and waded through thousands of images, retrieving what I could. Got most of them, so I was relieved.
It was much later that I found a file labelled 'October' lurking inside another file, in the wrong place.....0 -
Hooley going on here until around mid-evening, apparently, but still reasonably mild. Looks cold and wet up norf, but not so much wind.
We are still waiting for our 1600litres of oil. Once that's in I can relax, secure in the knowledge that the tank won't move!0 -
hi all
well its been blowing a hooley here ! at one point it was like a mini tornado rumbling through... had one good rain session but still mild [14d]:o
people laugh at my phone ... its basic ! I get txts from provider saying I haven't used any mega whatnots each month... I don't know how to and mainly because ,as long as precision isn't involved due to scratched beyond belief screen, I have no inclination to walk into lamp posts trying !
I have dropped more phones into water ....this one has its own life jacket
tow bar fitting tomorrow. will have to hang around for a couple of hours so maybe do some shop browsing so I can exclaim at the prices of things ....
CTC... how are the wigglepiggles doing ?? having camped the night with her, hats off to you two for your diligence and care of mama pig.0 -
We've had bad weather - really gales & cold - still snow on the tops.
The top of the page seems a bit weird - don't like this new look in here _ all pastels & too much white.
Progress here painstaking - I seem to spend my days fetching things, looking for things amidst the chaos & running btw the caravan & house & I am not getting anywhere, just getting wet & cold & very very cross.
I did nag OH about coal storage & wood storage in the Spring & each week since, but nothing has occurred & we need to get some coal in for the Ryaburn & it look like it's gonna be dumped in the mud round the back & as I'll be the one carting it into the house it's the most awkward place possible as there are no steps up to the door. I just cannot believe that I am at this muddle and mess stage still & we've hit Winter.
I think I've turned into a nag big style..0 -
I can't help with your coal storage, choille, but I can tell you how to make this place look how it used to......
Go to 'User CP' at the top of this page.
Once you are in User Control Panel, go to the bottom of the list where it says 'Forum Version Manager.' Press that.
Then, in the pop-up box that appears, select 'Old Version' and save the change.
Hey presto, back to the good old days.
But I know exactly how you feel when it comes to running about and getting nowhere fast. It's the same here, rather like that kids' book "Where's Spot?"
Take yesterday.... Builder says, "Have you a piece of 4" x 2" left? and I dutifully trot off, starting close and moving ever outwards...
Is it in the shed? No.:(
Is there some in DW's room? No.:(
Is there a bit in my workshop? No.:(
Well, what about the muddle of stuff in the big barn?
Yes!:j
Then I get back with wood and he says, "Oh, it's OK, I used an off-cut from another job that was in the van." :mad:0 -
I just cannot believe that I am at this muddle and mess stage still & we've hit Winter.
DW is amazingly cheerful, considering that she feels the cold and here we are with no central heating or insulation. At least we shall have oil today and I have a vague promise from the plumber that he might start connecting everything together soon....but it's like pulling teeth.
As for the lectricians....well, similar promises about next week.
I'm losing patience, so I'll get the British Gas chap back and, hopefully, some insulation, but he'll likely have no way of fast-tracking that.
Pete's no better. Last time he was here he said, "I haven't forgotten your logs." Well, he hasn't delivered any either....and they'll be wet anyway.
Some of his sheep are looking a bit broad in the beam now, so I think I'll ring him soon. I'm not going to do lambing as well!
And where's me winter fuel payment when I need it??
Oh yes, I can grump too! :rotfl:0 -
Morning all,
I think it's good to let off steam, moan, groan, be a grump on here
As its not easy having land, building your own house, doing extensive house renovations and the weather, livestock, sh!TTY neighbours, money/ job worries.. Etc
EBay is picking up a bit but they are lower priced items, but as long as I hear the' cha- ching' sound on my phone when I get a sale I will be happyWork to live= not live to work0 -
hi all...
well tow bars fitted by 2 very nice men
I had to "waste " time waiting so went for a shopping expedition. found a fab shop and got a fair few things for xmas d!cor/gifts. then I dropped into a shop for a manicure... yes a manicure
was great having lovely soak/massage/paint job... looked amazing ... now please note I wrote LOOKED ... just got home and fetched a load of logs in and hey presto one hand of scraped , smudged nailspoop :rotfl: I AM beyond help....
considering Mercedes wanted £700 for the tow/electrics and these guys charged me £300 I can afford to get another manicure
the weather [rain] has just broken so looks like a wild wet windy night again..
CHOILLE... should be something on its way to you, but not sure when it will GET to you. hope it helps..0 -
Dave - that is it exactly - send off of hunting missions & by thetime you've unearthed what they want they don't need it.
I just went & hid in the caravan this afternoon doing paperwork & when I went back after feeding the sheep I got told the stove had gone out.......It's been torrential rain here - really bad.
I hear that Wickes do coal bunkers so I will take a snoop at those.
On some good news I found all the correct documents for the rare breed stuff & also managed to fill in a form from the agri dept that I've put off until the last minute. I'm formphobic - can't abide them & make a big song & dance about doing them. Ridiculous really.
Joiner/electrickery guy spent the day blowing up the fuse box & rewiring stuff he'd erred on & using swear words in strings with no gaps between. I wish I could earn money as easily as correcting my mistakes. He did do other stuff, but it's at a crawl pace to my eyes.
Best to stay out of the way or you get caught up in the hunting for stuff scenario.
CTC - ebay is very slow for me & a lot of problem buyers who then don't want stuff - such a hassle really at the mo, but you've got to give it a go. I don't do it on a phone so I keep checking my emails or the site to see what's happening & usually very little is.
Alfie, I have never had a manicure, but my nails & hair are so strong I just cut them myself & they seem to be okay. I must find a heavy duty glove for the coal or the hod. I can't find anything at the mo - mind you it's been buried for over 7 years so it will be down amongst the dinosaurs - somewhere in that strata.
Alfie you musn't send me owt else - you are far too good & you must give me your details. I don't have your new address. You never know I may want to pop in for a cup of tea.......
Can it rain any more?0 -
"I don't have your new address. You never know I may want to pop in for a cup of tea......."
oh yeah... youde have to "pop" a long way kidda..:rotfl:
im as SOUTH as you are NORTH..... HEHEHE
its an early crimble pressy but may be a total white elefump so don't get too excited !0
