Actually more worried about Cowley junction http://www.nce.co.uk/news/water/network-rail-and-environment-agency-clash-over-flood-scheme/8659534.article Not sure if there has been an update on that?
If that goes under then it takes 5 days to get the lines to Exeter and beyond back working under the old regime.
Can't see the link, as it's members only, but know the Cowley bit, as we see it going into Exeter, though our unmarked route to the supermarket & trading estate misses all that, and the jams..
Miserable but warm here and not actually raining. They're harvesting the maize like there's no tomorrow, but our local big farmer has his own drier.0 -
Alfie, choille's foam pipe sounds great, but I'd conside a shoe of it rather than a splint, to protect the knuckes but still give her leg flexibility. When you see her just flip her foot over. We used bandages, or grippy socks taped on, and accepted the knuckles would be walked on, but that protecting them in a way that made them non slip was a good plan.0

hi all.... im gonna have a moan !:o
we have a local facebook site for the "community" of lymington..
there are some on there that turn and twist anything anyone writes.. it becomes lewd and a personal childish playground for bullies.
latest is the JL advert. claims it cost £7m [ it didn't by the way]and should be spent on the elderly instead
all hell broke loose !!?? [all because one resident said he hoped the ad made us think more of the lonely people around us ]
until an elderly chap piped up and said he had done his maths and worked out at 70p per person [elderly] .... he also listed the charity donations JL give each year, the amount of people JL employs etc.
and STILL the "kids" told him to claim his 70p...
so disrespectfull in my opinion. the bullies are led by someone not far off my age and makes me ashamed...
why do people do it ??
I will add the bullies got harpooned over this one and think they are in hiding
moan over.... I just have so much admiration for the old guys and hate to think anyone is lonely when all it takes is a kind word to make them feel part of life still...0 -
I've used the foam pipe insulation when I've had a lamb born with crooked legs - happened a few years back & they often just straighten soon, but one lamb seemed really crooked so I used that & it worked a treat.
Have a funeral/cremation tomorrow of a local woman who died - she was only a few years older than I & has a couple of kids - one just started 2nd ary school, so it's really sad.
Went to Inverness museum & art gallery & they had an exhibition on of a Russian model makers automotons theatre - really rather gothic & incredibly strange - it was super & I happened to chance on the two hour slot when it was free - I must have a nose for it.
Really mild but OH's says it's wicked over on the West.0 -
I've no Faceache account, alfie, so I don't really know what it's all about, but I think the whole social media thing is a massive distraction for many young people. Indeed, if I had to invent an 'opium for the people' I don't think I could do any better.
Of course there is an up-side too, in that charities etc can use Faceache and other media to help raise funds and get their message out there, but that's probably just a tiny % of the traffic.
Anyway, we have this site. People on here can become quite a r$ey too, of course, including me, but I try to be polite, and it's good discipline...:D0 -
All over Inverness people & not just the young are walking about looking at their phones - even walking across the road. They are looking at life through a screen - It's very odd.
I'm not a fb peson, but we know someone who left their wife after hooking back up with a school G/f.
Sorry to hear of the bullying thing alfie - it's everywhere0 -
hi all...
im not bothered enough by the idiots on our local forum but I feel its a shame that LOCALS don't use the site much for fear of being targeted...

have an ongoing drama with sons dentist... having a final expected bill of £9k for these bluddy implants ,which have not gone well so far [over 8 months from start so far]and a belligerent arrogant tw*t dentist to deal with who spouts the old "ive been doing this for xx years and I don't see the need to discuss things with you" doesn't help !
basics are they didn't put the studs in the places that his £400 3d scan advised and he had lumps of plastic/resin behind the teeth when they were fitted.. he developed an awfull lisp and was told "you will get used to it"... the colour was dreadfull too...
I advised the dentist that £9k justified him being told what they were going to do and when and how !
he refused to hand over sons x rays, scans etc [he paid for them all !] and only after a battle he has . it clearly shows they put the studs in different places than advised... I wont even ** what I think of him..
if they are not right this time [had to remove them and send em back to whoever] son intends to go back to his false ones and sue to get what hes paid so far back [£5.5k]
poor lad, hes very conscious of his teeth [he had bad accident in his early teens ]
on that cheerfull note ! im oft to rescue my bake spuds in oven0 -
