Radio silence from here because I have absolutely no news.

I don't have a lot either. Spent much of the day trying to write a reasonably entertaining email to an ex-girlfriend, who's now in a hospice type of place, but I'm not sure if it was really appropriate now I've sent it. :o

She's only able to communicate via a third party and we haven't spoken for a few years (can't understand her on phone) so it's very difficult....They won't tell me anything, of course. :(

I'm hopeless in this sort of situation. :o:o

Dave, the fact you have taken time to write is the important thing, I am sure it will be read in the spirit in which it was intended.

LIR not much news from here either.

    I have news :)

Bought a 2nd betta fish. Pics soon...(and some Endler Guppys)

Otherwise, this time of year is my least favourite - everything in sopping wet outside from the fog/drizzle for weeks on end (in Scotland!).

That's why I always cut down the perennials; I'm afraid all the talk of architectural seed-heads in the frost doesn't work here - blackened mush in the frost!

Plenty of bangs and what-not from the fireworks. I'm stopping in. <grump/>

I love all the different seasons for so many reasons. In Autumn and winter it is ideal for reading, crafting, watching bad TV and loads of planning :) We also tend to focus on improving our home over the winter which is lovely.

I love not having to mow and the fact that the weeds stop growing, although in the last few winters the weeds have not really taken much of a break!

I forgot it was November 5th. If I don't look outside the front door at exactly 7.30pm nowadays on Bonfire Night, I miss it! :(
  • Morning all,

Well pigges sold at the reserve we put on them, so I think the auctioned was doing his dutiful thing and taking them up to the reserve.. Pen position is key when it comes to pig auctions, and our were the first pen of their size pig, so I know now where are the best pens to get your pigs in .basically don't arrive too early, lol

So by the end of the weekend we will have 2 Piggie padocks empty and resting ( the mother of the ones we took to auction has been resting for about 6 weeks , and getting back into condition, so will put her back in with the boar)

Got loads of grass seed that was given to us, so might just throw it around the empty runs and see what happens by next spring lol

Dave.. I think the email you send with a bit of the Dave sense of humour is a great uplift.. And as for the panto script.. Sh!te it only seems like last month you were showing us your last panto pics...

Lir.. I am the same here.. Loads going on, but not much to say.. And when I do, I feel as though I am just repeating myself

Ooo one bit of news, some of our young ducks have started laying!!!!!! Honestly didn't expect them to start laying until next spring.. But with the mild weather.. Maybe their body clocks are all over the place too

Do you know how much people charge for duck eggs these days??? I used to sell them by the half dozen years ago, but have lost touch with the prices, do they sell by half dozen or individually now??

  • Morning! What a dreary day, looks like it's staying wet for a few days to come too :(

Oh well I'll stick to indoors/under cover jobs for the time being...got a lot of wood splitting to do, that's under shelter, although barrowing it to the wood store is not! We've Been lighting the fire earlier and earlier lately, luckily we've got a good stash of wood from last year when some very kind tree surgeons dropped off three loads for nowt! It's only pine/softwood but it burns well enough and its splitting nicely, apart from the knotty branches bits :o

Hubby is still waiting to start his new job, so I'm making the most of having the help, in fact he's been doing all the animals daily rounds by himself for quite a while :o I will have to get back into the swing of it soon. And I've just agreed to do some casual work in the run up to Xmas, we need the pennies, our bank balance is looking less and less healthy as the weeks go on :(

However I have been busy touting my wares, got another meeting later today in fact about putting a display in a showroom, exciting stuff! So these are what I made most recently while away...both mirrors in the pic, the silver one with circles is a table top and the coppery one is a sink, all gilded with gold/silver/copper leaf. it's not a commonly taught technique here hence travelling, I hope it pays off in as much as there aren't lots of people making this kind of thing here either.

I've got my eye on a few trade shows coming up, next one is in London, and I've been speaking to interior designers in the Cardiff area so I now need to extend my search area over the bridge. It's surprisingly time consuming and a bit scary putting yourself out there, but I've got nothing to lose so I'm just ignoring the self doubt and getting on with it :D

CTC glad the market was better for you yesterday, I forgot it was the other one today, curious to see what prices are doing... I must get my next lot of pigs booked into the abattoir, in fact I've got sheeps and goats to go as well. If I'm not quick I'll miss the boat, the butcher will be too busy in the run up to Xmas

Stay dry, if in doubt put the kettle on!

  • Just back from an office team-building event, which for once wasn't grim!

8 of us went curling, no-one had ever done this before so we had a good time, esp. as no-one fell over on the ice.
