Well...I'm pondering if I should buy a sythe Dave so I am going less rather than ...more tech wise..
Takes me back to when I was just a lad at college and my folks had a 1/3acre field across the road, which they'd no idea what to do with.

For a couple of years it was my job to scythe it, turn the stuff a few times and then, when the wind was right, burn it off.

I should add that it wasn't great pasture and it was full of rush, but my Dad had a horror of leaving anything 'natural.' :rotfl:

Sory Dave - You sound busy. The screening out what you don't want to see is a good one. I think I've let the trees take over so I have been taking some out as it is spoiling the magnificent view from thehouse & it's also blocking the light in the veg garden - not that I've spent much time in there this year.

Really bad gusts in the night. I got up at 5am as I had lain awake fo hours. Went back for a nap & slept for hours so I feel ruff ruff now.

Still quite squally but better shake a very sore leg & get going!
Ebay is frighteningly dead CTC & has been for ages. There is a lack of visibility on there at times. Sales come in clutches....then nothing.

I haven't weighed it, but that's a fair guesstimate. I won't do it all at once. It wouldn't take that long as it hasn't far to go, but I would expire from boredom. :(

Neighbours are the ones who live in one room all day with the curtains closed, so they are no bother, but they do keep Argos and others very busy.;) Then things break and they put them in their 'recycling area,' where they stay for a long time.

It was only in September their landlord tidied the garden up loaded everything for recycling into a trailer and took it to the depot. That took 2 days with the hedging etc. Now, there's already a swinging hammock thing, a commode and an old hoover....and that's just from memory! :(

It's a shame for the landlord and the next occupant, but in shielding ourselves from this, we shall be taking away their view, permanently. However, they have a very nice view across our field on the other side.....if they opened their curtains! :rotfl:

We can't see their bungalow, thanks to our beech hedge, which is now taller than us + a leylandii hedge. But we left this one area as just fence so we didn't shut them in on the western side. :o

We don't see anyone else, although a couple of properties overlook the barn yard, which is a plus for security reasons.:D It's not a pretty yard, due to the thatcher's store barn below it and our building materials, but it is way tidier than it used to be. I aim to start landscaping it better next year - just small evergreen trees and bushes, nothing major. :A

Speaking of the barn, it hasn't escaped me that the government are allowing more homes in the countryside by relaxing the conditions on conversions. This hasn't been met with enthusiam by many local authorities, so its currently a bit of a dog's breakfast.

Certainly, to make any homes out of ours, there would need to be almost total demolition, so I don't think it's in the running at present. Not sure that the monetary aspects would make it worthwhile either, but on the plus side, there are 15 properties here already, so 3 starter homes would hardly be noticed.....except of course by the people living in the other ones! :rotfl:
