I do have a Money Plant, but it's not been that lucky for me.

    I can hear banging - it's strange - I must investigate..............

It was OK, Mr Rod had put the down pipes back and wedged them in place. :A I didn't want the water washing down the newly rendered wall!

This morning he's out there in the rain, still rendering. He says this is the best sort of weather for it, so long as it's sheltered, which it is. Takes longer to harden, which is good. :) Not so good for him!

He's found a problem, though. There's a mystery hole at the bottom of one lead valley on the roof and the water's going through it and into the soffit, and then pouring out of there. No idea how a brand new lead flashing could get damaged like that, but it will have to be sorted. We'll just fill the hole with magic gunge for now. :o

'Regular bursts of money' ....Hmm....the OAP is quite good, but there's a down-side to qualifying. Winter Fuel Allowance and bus pass are the same. I actually forgot to claim my discount as an OAP a few weeks ago when I went somewhere (can't remember! ?:rotfl:) and no one said anything. :(

Might have been an unintentional compliment! :D

Had that on Sunday. I could hear it above the water and the fan, - I was in the shower. I thought maybe an accident out on the road or something like that.

Turned out to be Izzy, running amok on the roof! :rotfl:

I called the 2 guys making the field shelter early this morning and asked if they thought their truck/small lorry would be ok driving across the field bearing in mind the weather...
in true macho style ...YES,NO PROBLEM...
so when I got a call at 5pm [im at heathrow] telling me they were stuck enroute out, why was I not surprised :p......
as there was not a lot I could do from where I was...
they eventually got pulled out at 6.30 by a neighbouring tractor...shouldn't but I couldnt stop :rotfl::rotfl:

bit like asking for directions/reading instructions....;)

ive also come to the conclusion that I wear my grumpy hat when im on the motorway now...

We've had the wood burner going for a few weeks now, but mainly on the wood we've produced ourselves. The good, expensive wood is for this 'orrible winter we're supposed to have. :D

When someone mentioned ebay, I suddenly remembered I was going to bid on a mower, but I'd left it far too late. It went for a low price too. :( On the other hand, it was rather a long way off...:p

Mr Rod has been pressing-on with the rendering, but I don't think he'll finish this week. The materials alone have cost about £750, even with discount, but I've bought stainless steel profiles, which push the price up. The old galvanised ones haven't stood the test of time and weather.

The surveyor chappie from British Gas will be here tomorrow to estimate for our loft insulation. Once we get a date from him, we can intimidate the electricians and plumbers with it. They won't want to fight their way through it! :rotfl:

One thing's for sure, we aren't doing without for much longer.

Ebay has been so slow for ages CTC - for me it has in any case then you get little fluries & sometimes from the same region of the UK - which is very strange. Something to do with visibility. Loads of Chinese crop to wade through for folks before you can view owt decent has had a bad effect - I believe.

Lovely horse Alfie - like a Fresian - real Red Injun one. Hope the training goes well.

Slow here as it's been real windy & nasty squally weather so flue pipe is still in wrapping paper - still horizontal on the kitchen floor!

Hope the loft goes well - insulation seems really good buy just now - saw some in B&Q really cheap. Best thing you can do - that & thick curtains.

Must shake a leg & get summit done before I cease up...................
