We only had quotes for the kitchen, central heating and electrics here, showing some huge variations, but with the latter two, the most important thing was a willingness to do work in stages, rather than all at once. After all, we couldn't ask the plumbers to fit radiators to walls we hadn't yet built etc.:o

That's slowed everything down, because when we're ready to do the next bit, the tradesmen are busy somewhere else. It's inevitable.

Anyway, Mr Rod should begin the rendering tomorrow, and once that's done, we'll be ready to push forward with the remainder of the central heating. Not a day too soon either!

Yes Dave some of the quotes we had were double the cost of others for the exact same things

I really should cut the grass today before the weather turns but I can't open the shed by myself :o and OH is working today. Maybe when he comes home, although it may be too dark by then ;) Do you get the impression I just don't want to :rotfl:

    Hope you feel better Alfie.

    What's a spa day?

Drizzling here & person who was coming to put up flue pipe hasn't so no heating yet.

Bought a huge parlour palm for £10 out of B&Q as it was looking peeky.

    For the bathroom....

You are always so busy Alfie! Why not check on one of the online discount sites and book yourself a spa day or massage? A spa day is not really my thing, I would much rather spend the day walking without purpose around somewhere new and eating loads of delicious food. I do hope the cold comes to nothing and that you are feeling better soon.

The palm sounds good Choille. Where are you with the renovations? I know you have been getting loads done and that there have been various hold ups and problems, are you hoping to be in this year?

I do hope so - especially after OH has his operation as he won't manage in the caravan at all - it takes him to get in it & there's no room to manuever [sp?]

The house upstairs insn't done at all - no floor , no walls, no insulation. The bedroom needs the ceiling fixed where I went through! Skirtings on papered & doos on - floor laid - everythings bought & here.

Kitchen Rayburn pipe up - hearth (today's job) painted - yet again, flooring down, skirtings on - doors, wiring tidied.

Hall floored, walls, wiring, painted .................just gets depressing writing it down

Has this thread got another dimension I don't know about? :o

Hi folks - it's called work; been in temporary accommodation for much of the summer; now back but still have network problems (as per today).

Late summer/early autumn is always bonkers at work and then I spend rather a lot of weekends helping out with other activities. Lots of harvesting and processing and prepping for events and events. Won a few things too.

So I read and sometimes post. Not been the most successful year growing stuff but the fruit and bees have done well.

Argh........... must book something I forgot; for next spring.

Hi Alfie - no that's the to do list in red.....ARGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

The house is freezing today so I've not helped by whinging about that & done little really as you just get that way.

Good to hear from you RAS - hope that you continue to win stuff - good for you & the network gets sorted out. Temp accomodation can't be too much fun - all work by the sounds of things.

Stated to rain here & the wind is picking up - the deer are bellowing away in the background - quite an eerie, mournful sound I always think.

Well done the email. Otherwise I will be in the doo-doo come March. Still might be but at least I can tell people in advance.

choille - I did get a week off but that was mainly catch-up.

My thought is try to get one room sorted and only do stuff in the others if you are stuck on the priority room? I know that sound easier than it is (you should see my list). And I get fed-up.

I was confused a few weeks back by a sound in the evenings; something was going www, www, www, on and on and on many times over a couple of weeks and it was not a car with a battery flat.

Then one night it suddenly managed www, www, www, wooooo. I think we had an owl in training in one of the trees. Last night it managed woo, woo, woo repeatedly.
