OH has been rescheduled for Monday - poor thing.
So now he's attempting to do some work on specs for a client. I'm a bit annoyed with them, but it will kinda distract OH I suppose.
Anyone else got some ghastly person they have to deal with, but they are quite exhausting & really annoying? Just want to tell them where to go, but I can't as it would be cutting my nose off.....some people are just toxic, I guess.0 -
I have a question though, I want a couple of viburnum opulus-I like the idea of Pom Pom shapes repeated in the garden, but want to grow them as standards. Does anyone know if this is possible?pink_poppy wrote: »I love Japanese anemone, Fay, I nearly bought a pink one in a local garden centre last week but decided against it. Seeing them flowering in nearby gardens has made me think I may have to go back & buy one. I noticed the white ones were a lot more expensive for some reason??
I was wondering how everyone's monbretia/crocosmia is doing this year?? I think it was last year we were all saying how disappointing they were. Mine's the same this year & I'm seriously thinking about digging it out
I presume you mean the cultivated viburnum, Fay, rather than the more 'wild' Guelder Rose. I only have the latter, having grown some from seed, but I can confirm that it responds well to pruning, so I imagine its cousin will be similar.
In July, I bought some crocosmia 'Lucifer' in an open garden for £1 and I'm sure it flowered....but I've not paid much attention to the flower garden, so I'm not sure how well.:o
I like Japanese anenone 'Hadspen Abundance,' which always seems to have two petals darker than the other three. It also seems to last longer in flower than the other pinks and it's not a thug.0 -
Thanks Dave, yes I'm thinking its a cultivar, roseum I think. Thanks fir the advice.
My crocosmia is has been interesting, I had some latches under trees that have never flowered...here when we moved in. It's flowered thus year yay. An established patch hasn't done great so thinking it needs dividing? And I planted some lucifer firms last year that flowered this year but inky had about 6 flowers.
Japanese anenomes are great value plants. I just dig the off shoots up and plant them elsewhere, most survive. I wonder if the roots would survive in a bag in the post? I have a white one and a pale pink (no idea which varieties as here when u moved) but I would be happy to try sending some if they would survive pink poppy? or do they grow from root cuttings? That might also work if I sent you a root or two? Not sure where you are but probably not close enough for me to pot up and you collect,0 -
hi all...
oh poop choille ... but at least next appointment is soon..:o
dave.. your stress levels have been and gone surely, being a teacher
tomorrow I am going with friend [owner of big dog ] to look at a Labrador puppy.....:j
big dog was one of my puppies 11 years ago and he was amazing with my second litter.. I was looking after him [18 months old] when 2nd litter were 6 weeks old and the puppies made a bee line for him, hanging off his ears, ruff, tail etc. he loved it..
owners will be heartbroken when he goes so feel now is the time to get another, for him to enjoy playing with ..
its a booggar when their times up isn't it
my old gal seems better on her tablets. her back legs are still wibbly wobbly but she seems to be able to move about much better oblivious of the direction shes going in.... shes deaf ...well sometimesseems to hear the word biscuit at 100 yds....
got the fire lit again tonight as its mild during the day but drops drastically now...
CTC.... enjoy your time at the show.. things will calm down and it will all come right... :happyhear0 -

Fay, that is so kind of you
The one I saw last week was only £2.99 so I think I'll just go & buy it, but thank you so much for the offer. There's a lovely caf! at the garden centre as well so it's no bother to go back
Not sure of the Japanese Anemone name, Dave. I didn't look particularly closely & the flowers were in bud, I thought they just came in pink or white
I never thought of dividing the crocosmia, I wonder if that's the problem. I think this is only the 3rd or 4th year I've had it & it doesn't look particularly 'congested' but it's certainly worth a try.'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
