Hope hubby is taking it easy CTC - stress is bad - I know only too well.0
-
Stress is the most debilitating thing when it comes in too high a dose. A certain amount is good and fires us up, but too much and we go the other way. Hubby needs a few days, like Malvern, just to get a sense of proportion again, CTC.
And so do you! :A
Since we began working on this place and spending large sums of money, my stress levels have fallen.Yes, events like workmen not turning-up, drive us mad at times, but we've made all the choices now and this is what we have, for better or worse.
Before, in the earlier days, I wasn't sure if we'd stay here, or if we could afford to carry out our plans. The early ones were over-ambitious, but we didn't find the right people to advise us, so time and money were wasted. With so many 'unknowns,' the situation became very stressful. Now, at least we know where we're going, even if it is at a much slower pace than we'd prefer.:o
Anyway, it looks as if the kitchen co will have the parts they still need on Thursday, so after a lay-off of about a month, we might see that finished....well, almost. No sign of the other oven yet, and did I tell you the sink will have to be changed? :eek:0 -
hi all....
am I the only one who lets a spider make a fab web and residence on the inside corner of my car windscreen and has a hissy fit when my poor mum went to swipe it away with her hand !!
its been funny weather here ! not funny ha ha but funny odd.. its been raining at night, sun in the morning, overcast midday, sunshine this T time [up to 18d] now its a cold wind and damp ???

Too late in the year for applying lawn sand, so you reckon?0
-
Alfie, I often have a spider in the car and I would be most displeased if someone tried to remove its home. So pleased to hear that your mum is in her new home, I hope that it brings her joy.
IHS, no idea about lawn sand. My lawn is mainly moss and weeds I am afraid. However it does allow me to use my Fiskers weed device which is fun :rotfl:
Dave, just imagine soon you will be relaxing in your finished home
CTC, sorry to hear about hubby. The Malvern show is wonderful and I am sure you will all enjoy it. If I win the lottery I will be relocating to Malvern, so many happy memories.
Choille, you are an amazingly strong person and I am sure that you will manage with whatever comes over the next few months. Please do remember that we are here to support you in whatever ways we can, even if that is just a listening ear.
Things here continue to be challenging however I am accepting that this is going to be our norm. Thank goodness for family and friendsTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Mr Choille's ops been postponed as the operating team have a bug - how scary is that. Last minute letting us know. Poor OH - we were both organised & he was ready & now we await when he'll be taken.
Alfie - we too have a spider living in the car - they can set off the alarm though. We imported some from France - unknowingly a few years ago.
Been torrential rain today & really quite cool.
Got the bedroom doors delivered today & the skirtings. We are buying them in dribs & drabs - they seem expensive & that is the way we can do it....in dribs & drabs,,,,,,,,,,,,,0 -
Sorry, no idea about lawn sand. We only have 'grass,' and it's not very posh grass at that.
I don't think we have any spiders in the car either, though I'm sure we have them in the van, especially at this time of year when the flies decide it's the ideal place for them to overwinter. I'm ready for them. Last year, I had to stop 3 or 4 times in the 20 miles to Barnstaple, just to clear the flies from the cab.
So sorry your OH's op was cancelled, choille. Hopefully he'll be re-scheduled soon, but it seems to be increasingly unusual these days when something like that does go ahead on time.
Not sure about relaxing, Rummer. We have never done that very well.....However, this year has been the hardest, most full-on ever, so if we can reach the end of it with enough done to draw breath, it'll do.
This coming weekend we have Outlaws descending to put a toilet in the barn, while DD2's young man will also drop by to use his incredible packing skills in our van, ready for their move-in up at Bristol next week. DD1 is also holidaying nearby as well. No one's actually staying here in the house, as it's too spartan for most tastes, once people step beyond the kitchen & utility end! :rotfl:0 -
Morning everyone, it's turned chilly here now and rains on and off most days. Monday was horrific rain all day. But the garden is benefitting...or so I tell myself lol.
I was on training yesterday and again today. The final part of my EMDR training and it's great, I really enjoy it. But it's long days and hard going. You have therapy and give therapy under supervision (standard practice and I'm used to that) but after 5 hours of power point presentations it feels hard work lol.
Hoping to get into the garden at the weekend. I want to move 2 hydrangeas. I also want to divide some Japanese anemones. I've dug various bits of these up and they've taken really well.
I have a question though, I want a couple of viburnum opulus-I like the idea of Pom Pom shapes repeated in the garden, but want to grow them as standards. Does anyone know if this is possible?0 -
I love Japanese anemone, Fay, I nearly bought a pink one in a local garden centre last week but decided against it. Seeing them flowering in nearby gardens has made me think I may have to go back & buy one. I noticed the white ones were a lot more expensive for some reason??
I was wondering how everyone's monbretia/crocosmia is doing this year?? I think it was last year we were all saying how disappointing they were. Mine's the same this year & I'm seriously thinking about digging it out'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Morning all,
Choille what a pain with the op being cancelled, hope its re- booked soon..
Its been turbulent few weeks/ months on the work front, and one small phase of it will end today...
Little Lola has been a total God send..she is such a charector she is growing and filling out lively, and turning into a right little madam!!Work to live= not live to work0
