Terrible Internet problems and having an engineer out next week.
I'm sorry I cannot keep up with everyone's news and happenings
Half our village is without internet, but 'things' are going on....I spotted what looked like a brand new green BT box in a wood near the station yesterday. It could be that the much-rumoured 'Infinity' is on its way to us after all.:j
Personally, I'm still loving 'normal' and being able to watch progs again, like the one CTC linked to the other day. For me, that's a huge step forward after 6 years of barely crawling.
The kitchen is all but complete. We just need a few bits that were missing....oh and an oven or two, and a hob...and water in the tap..er, and electricity and lights.....mmm the floor will be done tomorrow though! :T

Davesnave I think there is another 2 episodes to endure lol
Well haven't long come back from the botanical gardens, our friend works there, so we ' donated' a few thousand of those plant pots that I won.. And I felt quite chuffed that I got more plant pits than them lol....
So we spend an hour or so walking around even though it was raining... I was sooooooo itching to ' aquire' a few cuttings, but I thought better of it..
The builder said they will be at the ranch in the morning to do the floor, getting a bit desperate now, as I have my furniture syash that needs moving from one of our units asap...Work to live= not live to work0 -
On holiday from today!:j
Sorbus aucuparia 'Autumn Spire' arrived today, looks to be in good condition and just under 6' so that's now planted after being left to soak for an hour or so. Doubt it'll do much this year, but the leaves may get colour and there's some berries on it.0 -
L - the homeownership came to me relatively late on & was after decades of living in mouldy, damp cottages that were not maintained. It's a real pain & you can end up doing places up for the landlord & then they want you out as they can get more money for it as a holiday let. Don't get me started.....It's my big thing is housing.......
Dave the stuff will all come together & we will forget all of the stresses & strains of plumbers plucking plumbers & .......well it will get there one day soonish.
CTC - hope things are well & you get your cuttings somehow. I do like clipping bits & shoving the self sown seedlings into my pocket or bag. It's really naughty liberating plants from the constraints of the National Trust & other such organisations. I even wet a bit of tissue in a puddle to wrap them in - I've developed quite a technique. I have a fondness for seedheads these are low down on the liberation scale. That's quite an easy technique..........
Autumn Spire sounds like it should require Planning Permission IHS. Did it get posted?
There are some Rhodadendrons [sp?] in LIDL at the mo - only £3.99 which is mega cheap.
Very hot today & saw some Automina - OH bought me a whale that rocks. I am so delighted with it. It is so very beautiful. I feel very spoilt.
We hear that hairy cat brought in a mole for BIL who is staying looking after him & he couldn't quite cope.....BIL that is. He had to phone a friend.....news travels fast sometimes.0 -
you have a positive spring in your step choille..
makes me chuckle when I read your recent posts :rotfl:
its like you've been liberated, I only hope same for the mole0 -
yoose 'av a wicked sense of hooomer Davey boy..;) :rotfl:0

Speaking of cuttings and suchlike, my latest freebie seeds emerged yesterday; a few Anisodontea capensis I took from a plant that had gone to seed in Homebase.
We had anisodontea when we moved here, and its cousin sphaeralcea, but they went in that first hard winter, along with many of the other borderline hardy plants.
Liberating plants is OK in my book, so long as no one would ever realise. Spreading them around is the best way to ensure the survival of varieties, though there's a counter-argument that says old, not-very-good garden plants should be allowed to fade away. After all 'The Plant Finder' just gets thicker....
The above is demonstrated by the fate of one plant DW & I bred and put forward for propagation back in the days when dark leaved dahlias were not so popular. We called it 'Xxxx's (DW's name) Chocolate Orange,' and because it was being assessed, we had to promise not to sell it.
Well, the nursery people kidded us along for a few years, but I don't think they intended to release the plant, they just wanted to keep it away from others.:(
We lost Chocolate Orange in those bad winters, and so did the few people we'd given plants for 'insurance' purposes. I guess the plant breeders might still have it, but I'm not bovvered now. Dark-leaved, orange, waterlily dahilas aren't exactly news any more.0 -
The whale I got has opening and closing eyes & you're never too old for a rocking whale.
Alfie I do feel that I have been of need of getting away & it has been very refreshing & interesting. You forget that there are so many lovely places to see.0 -
Choille I felt the same when I went away for a couple of nights on my own last month. I hadn't realised how long it had been since I was away from our place overnight, 2-3 years easily, and how much I needed the break, esp. with all the neighbour issues, you can feel like a prisoner in your own home. Prob the same for you with the dramas and delays on your house?
Been doing a bit of travelling round myself lately, went to the far west coast of Wales, such a beautiful part of the world. If I had more time I'd have gone further up the coast where the Dolphins have been on the news, having lots of calves!
We haven't done much exploring since we've lived here, it's finding the time...and the weather
Days and days of rain forecast here, with the odd break for a few hours, so dreary! Not to worry, got plenty of indoor/undercover jobs to do!0
