I was going to put fresh mint into the water for the peas, then I remembered the fish like a shelled pea or two. But in case they don't like mint, I left the leaves out...

Been a bit hectic as no water in the house. The pipe was out of the burn & now the system is all air=locked. Tried putting the washing machine on as it was such a gorgeous day but wouldn't work so thought that had gone on the blink again.
Sheep with very sore eyes so had to catch her & put some stuff in - thankfully had stuff in the fridge for that. but seem to have put my back out!
Sold something on Ebay while I was away & can I find it.....can I heck.
Been re-listing as it's free so that has been a long day today.
Can't believe the back to no water situation.

Lovely Lucielle letting us get a hollyday & baffs - which was great as well as the brilliant location = back to reality now.

I have a striped grass thing that goes in water IHS - would that do?
I used to work for a woman & she went on to make a mint selling mini bales of hay that keep ponds free of the algae - maybe you should get one of those.

Blooming windy tonight/today & it's dark -the nights are starting to draw in.

Very hot today & saw some Automina - OH bought me a whale that rocks. I am so delighted with it. It is so very beautiful. I feel very spoilt.

Was that the one from the art shop in Alnwick?

Stair rods this morning, but the electricians are hard at it. :)

How's the floor, now you can walk on it CTC?

Like we were, you're probably moving stuff from one room to another to make space for the next bit of work.....
What do I mean 'were?' We still have an empty ensuite packed to the ceiling! :o

I daren't ask about BiL's rendering. Apparently the scaffolding was over 6 hours late on Saturday, which meant they could otherwise have missed the foul weather. :(

Hope your water airlock can be resolved, choille. I'm just imagining a barley straw hay bale in IHS's tank....and chuckling! :rotfl:

I'm taking a different approach, if I can convince Boots to sell me 6% hydrogen peroxide!

The plants will be removed to get a very diluted wash then rinsed and replaced. This should clobber the algae on the leaves.

I've also seen peeps use 3% hydrogen peroxide on the roots when re-potting orchids to kill any snails eggs and nasties

Hi Rummer - Yes it was. Lovely lady that ran it.

IHS - They are very tiny bales that somehow stop algae.

I think I got something about this subject in a mag from Pets At Home when I went to get hairy cat's food - he has a special diet.

Was going to go with OH to Ullapool as he has his blood thing today but stayed & went into the little loo in house & there was a waterfall coming down the wall.................

Managed to turn the water off but it's a mess. I painted that blubby place about 6 coats as it wasn't taking the paint right - well that was a waste of time......and paint.

I'm just gong outside .......I may be a while...............

Oh no choille. No water and no water in the wrong place. Ahh.

The worst happened to me is that I got soaked twice with sudden downpours over the weekend. Rather burgered planting stuff that needs to go in pronto.

Oh, what a horrible discovery, choille. So sorry to hear that. I just hope it dries out OK. :(

Against your flood, our sad discovery today is almost insignificant, but we had a big disappointment on opening the first box of 'proper' lights, packed away carefully in 2008.

Hmmm... they were packed well, but being stacked in the barn six years, one of the heavier boxes had gradually squashed the lower one.....and our dining room pendant light was in bits.

I had the lights unpacked, because we've had the electricians all day. They've done quite a lot, but of course they can't connect the ovens & hob which still aren't here.

At least we now have light and power in 80% of the house, though we're still on the most amazing combination of extension leads for the living room + conservatory. Don't worry, we know which things we can't run simultaneously, like the washing machine + drier and/or the oven, still standing on bricks and currently heating our dinner.:)

Wonder how alfie's Mum's move went.....
