Thanks CTC a cuppa sounds lovely! Although for someone getting full time help round the place I'm not sure when I'm free! Will have a think and let you know, soon though.

Dave, kitchens looking lovely! I changed my mind about with the splash back I originally chose. it was to going to be a bright green but I was a bit worried either it would date or I'd go off it and be stuck with a very expensive mistake, so I returned it!

My thought then was to use paint for the bright colour, much easier to change, and also lots of bright accessories...I happen to like le creuset, and have various coloured crockery and cookware. I was going to do the walls light grey to keep the monochrome theme going.

That's what ultimately led me to the splash back I made, grey with LC multi coloured strips.

This is a type of splash back I think suits kitchens like yours, not the best picture but you can just see the green tinge to the glass is subtle, so maybe a pale colour glass for yours would work? As Alfie says a bright colour could slice across the room...

Must admit, I'd go for a green, and not too loud, but it's persuading DW....:o

Floor's going to be limed oak and we'll have painted matchboarding around the dining area, which isn't in the pic.

One compromise with this kitchen is the lack of glass doors to show off anything bright inside units. There's also no choice of interior colour, just ivory. Once we knew that, and that all other door colours are sprayed over the standard ivory, we just went ivory!

On the up-side, the units and furniture, runners etc are no different from their top end stuff. The doors are ash instead of oak, but as painted, who going to notice?

If we just did glass sheets with painted wall behind, how would we fix them?

  • Lots of technical stuff to consider Dave, will pm you!

Alfie, you're quite right to be cautious with the shelter. We have one on metal skids but it doesn't go over stony/rocky ground, they don't give them any clearance. As a result of trying to move it ours is broken.

Some authorities aren't content that you CAN move it and they might insist it IS moved regularly, so sounds like you're on the right track with the wheels...

Not installed flat to the wall yet, just leaning to get an idea of how it looks.

Note assorted le creuset mugs by the microwave to show how the colours were picked up :p yeah right!

Poor Ds2 didn't get enough Cs to get into sixth form. They are sending back one of his papers to be re-marked as he was 1 mark off a C which if changed would mean he can go into sixth form. Trouble is we haven't got a lot of time before school starts and need to have a plan B.
