Morning!
Yes it was a horrible night, worse than Saturday night, my tv kept losing signal and there was a power cut, neither of which have happened for a long time. I don't like big thunder storms, I just worry about the poor animals outside
I am feeling trepidatious this morning, is that a word?!
We had our Planning app refused, and I am now having to go into battle with the person who's report is largely responsible. I have drawn up my argument, but the man is an arrogant ar$€, so called agricultural expert who doesn't return calls and emails.
We can reapply for free but the problem is part of the app is retrospective and we absolutely cannot undo what we've done. aside from the cost and time, we made essential changes that we can't do without.
I will probably have to leave out the parts of the app that ask for new structures, we don't have the money to build them anyway and it's not they best time for block work. I will try and get the poly tunnel in though, really don't know how they could object to that.
I was advised to bring in my own agricultural expert to counter his report but why should I pay even more, I'd rather convince the bloke to be reasonable and not object to the app next time. I already spent a small fortune on a planning consultant who turned out to be useless!
that's that off my chest, thanks for listening!
I also have a little mission today, how to get a Rayburn I've just bought home! Access is not good for my trailer, it would be hard, so am looking into getting a tail lift van and some muscle power.....!0 -

Girding myself up to do battle with the plumber - again - this time re the waste pipe for the sink in the utility. It was to go through the base units to the drain on the adjacent wall. But he told Mr BD yesterday that now the base units are in he can't do that and the pipe will have to go outside, round the corner at the back of the house.
Nooooooooo!
Has this man never heard of a hole saw? :rotfl:
It's often difficult to think ahead, but not in simple situations like that one, where the jobs are directly related. We are constantly thinking forward, but things still escape us... sometimes.
For example, we prepared for blocking-up the front door, but we forgot that moving a window should really be part of that for structural reasons. So, my office here will soon lose a metre of wall that wasn't going to come down till next year and the window will jump sideways.....:o0 -

I don't do stress very well either, not since my step kids moved in and their mother started interfering in our lives. I actually cried with relief when the son moved out, he was a nightmare, the daughter wasn't as bad.
I didn't even recognise at the time what was going on or why I just remember feeling so sick, I was even having panic attacks at meal times. I lost a lot of weight, and also lost my carefree, happy-go-lucky nature.
I'm still a positive person but simple things can instantly get my stomach in knots. Like it is today. It's generally things that I can't directly control that get me in a tizz.
I use an emergency essence, homeopathic stuff. Partly cos you put some drops in a glass of water and sip slowly, it forces you to start calming down, whether that's the point and it's all placebo I don't know!
It must be terribly unsettling having things change around you and feeling like you have to react rather than it happening when you are ready.
But try and put a positive spin on, like you say it might be the push you needed to get yourself permanently up they ranch, which will hopefully simplify your day to day life and drive the project on.0 -
thanks FK... yes I like to do things on my terms lol. we knew this day would come, and I am reacting like this place is our only home... but they have pushed a button, which will make me do things that we should have done long ago... its just the way they are doing it, and basically calling us low life that got my back up..
Not in work today... I need to start sorting things out in house1, but TBH I am too highly strung today to see anyone... will either cry or scream at people and tell them go forth and multiply lol..
FK are you a member of the NFU or NFW?? as they might be able to help, as I know there is a legal package that comes with your membership... but I don't know what it covers....
what are you using the building for that the app has been refused on??
EDIT.... for the future if it is outside buildings etc... wooden structures under 4 mtres??? I 'think' you don't need planning for.. so large wooden sheds maybe ok??Work to live= not live to work0 -
morning all... still feel poopy
i HATE being out of sorts... FK.. what did you build that needs retrospective planning ? i know here that tends to P off the planners and can jepordise further apps. possibly get the retro sorted first [with a "gratefull smile"] then try for the rest ? CTC... glad your piggies are all well now and big pat on the back for being on the ball
be ruthless with getting rid of all carp in house 1, i found it hard but when i got the "clearance men" in it made it easier as i was too embarassed to explain why i had an ancient broken item "that may come in handy one day" !!
:o DAVEY... aaaah.. man space diminishing
years ago i was having a refurb on a gorgeous old cottage i was moving into and when the new roof was going on i asked re any window work and it was no no no .... then of course it was moan moan moan when a lintel had to be replaced [being wood in 1780 !] i must admit i smuggly told workman i was only paying for original price as g*d forbid they listened to a mere "girlie" at the start..;) all you bods gardens seem to be very organised... mine isnt
im still trying to sort out my house ! i just seem to move stuff from room to room .. i am determined NOT to clutter this house up... i need more hours in the day but who doesnt..:rotfl: well its wet here but still mild. im sat in my dressing gown still
good job ive no neighbours !:rotfl: hope everyone has a good day doing whatever

The thing is Alfie your old place was like a palace compared to our house1
I must admit I am embarrassed about house1, but we said we would never spend another penny on it, and we got into the habbit of not throwing anything away... even old tyres which are covered in brambles etc on the new owners land lol..
think I might put scuzz tv on full blast and piddle off the next door neighbour that didn't speak nice of us to the new land owner lol well, I got to listen to them screaming all the time...when I am here...Work to live= not live to work0 -
CTC.... take all that you need/want/will use and put the rest in a skip and walk away :rotfl: let me know of anything i may have/can get for the ranch0

HAHAHA so we can start hoarding again up there lol..
yep we do need to detach ourselves from this place...
doesn't help the council has changed our general bin for a tiny one lol..Work to live= not live to work0 -
when i moved to last house, my son and i literally camped in our bedrooms. we had no power, no heating [1 open fire], no hot water etc. this was from april to august !! the loo worked tho
we used a primus stove and boiled water etc. had a portable gas heater and scrounged showers from a friend . didnt kill us but was hard
so nothing is impossible. if the ranch gets to a stage where you can manage , even sleep / eat etc in one room its at least got you up there and more work can be done with you in situ at an easier pace than dividing yourself between 2 houses .... of course coming up to the winter doesnt help but your toughies
:D

talking workmen.... i remeber years ago, an elderly chap had had a quote to top/remove dead branches off oaks in his garden . he showed me the quote which was ridiculous and i contacted them and told them he did not want them to do the job... i often kept an eye on his place when he was away and when i saw the truck on the drive i immediatley shot in there asking what they were doing [my father was with me]... they said they were going to "do" the tree. i said no he did not want them to do it. the mans reply was " as if im going to take notice of you, why dont you go and do what you do best and make us a cup of tea" and walked away... WELL, even my dad ducked ! my answer to him was not suitable before OR after the watershed... he refused to stop the work [knowing the old boy was away]. i then told him he would NOT be paid but by all means carry on. which he did. when old boy got back he saw the bill... rang the man and reminded him that he was NOT paying it .... when he started to threaten old boy with court, old boy pointed out he was a General and he had fought wars and also that my father was a police officer so "bring it on"....;) never heard another word.... and he got his trees done :rotfl::rotfl:0
