I do have a RHS plant finder book - somewhere. It's a beauty & can't imagine why anyone would give it to a charity shop - can't wait to unpack my books.
Scaly leg mite - it's worth doing the edge of the roosting pole - anywhere in the house where beasties can crawl into.
Warm but dull & quite an oppressive air.0 -

Apologies LIR, have been AWOL in the garden all day.....
Anyhoo, DH reminded me the garden centre/nursery in question is actually not in Wiltshire at all, but across the border near Gillingham in DorsetIt's a family-run place called Plantworld and is iirc near Milton on Stour. Not sure of your exact location within Wilts, but that might be too far for you to travel.
The business was up for sale, and as we've been away from the area for six months, it may no longer be open or it may be totally different from when we frequented it. It was a smaller, interesting establishment with none of the *same old same old* vibe you get at the likes of Wyevale......and no tea shop!
The main David Austin nursery is quite near us - in Albrighton, Staffs Alfie - it's a great place to visit as it has all the roses you could hope to buy (David Austin ones, that is) but where I had assumed the prices would be lower there, they were not.....unless you were buying bare root stock, which we weren't as we knew it might be a while before we could get them in the ground. We still spent a few hundred quid, but in future unless there's a particular rose I want that can't be found elsewhere, I'll stick to the nurseries that stock them for £16.99
I've been clearing and planting today - have cleared one bed entirely of the offending plant and have planted the following -
Monarda Pink Lace, Veronica Purpleicious, Leucanthemum White Night, Verbena Bonariensis, Liatris Spicata Kobold, Rudbeckia Fulgida Pot of Gold
These will compliment the cottage garden perrenials that remain from the PO's planting.
All of which were bought at a very small local nursery in 3 litre pots at three for £10
If the weather stays fine tomorrow I have another bed to clear......but for now am royally pooped so it's a tall glass of piña colada on the terrace for me!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

( actually I think waitrose home deliveries even over here come from gillingham for some logistics reason, I know, I have some odd conversations with supermarket managers!) I'm over in Wincantonish area next week or week after, so can detour and have a look probably.
Small world LIR, Gillingham was our nearest Waitrose and supermarket of choice between May 2011 and December 2014.....although we did love the new improved Salisbury branch:D

DW weeded the front border this afternoon and more folk than usual stopped to buy plants...like £70 worth.:D
OTOH, at this rate, we shall be cleared-out.
Mr Rod is almost done for now, so we're well and truly plastered in the larger bedrooms and hallway. :j
Noting that he's always so busy, DW asked Mr R if he ever has time to do stuff at home. He laughed and said that the last job he left undone was sorted by his wife, who paid another plasterer to do it! :rotfl:
The mangy toos in the polytunnel have been a great success, but they've stopped flowering now. For in there I chose a dwarf variety, which grows to about 2' out of doors. In there, it's grown taller than me.
Just placed a seed order with these people:

I will let you know how I get on, but their web site is a cut above average.0 -
Gosh, that's good going on the plant sales Dave
Note: had to go back and correct that sentence as I'd inadvertently typed 'pant sales' lol :rotfl:
Know what you mean about running out though.....I always think the same when we have a good run of sales in our business - it's great to be doing well, but otoh you then need to replenish the stock, which in our personal case can sometimes mean waiting till a great lot comes along
Will check out that website for seedsMortgage-free for fourteen years!
