Maggie what a beautiful poppy & something else - the hummingbird moth. I have never seen one, but my late Mum had one visit & she was amazed at it's speed. I have however had a crysilis of one which was most unusual - I had to ask around to find out what it was - not here, but further down Scotland. I don't think they'd survive here not having wellies.

It's dry today & quite warm - OH has a migraine. I feel all squinty eyed - it's the glare. I think out eyes have cattarracked {sp?}over - bit like vampires, we ain't used to the light!

FK - you sound like you are making massive progress, but have similar plumber probs. I think they are all beset with ADD or some other trendy condition - shouldn't make light of that condition, but hey you know what I mean.
Re your tiles - rugs make all the difference - those woven cloth ones are easy to wash & seem to be good for standing at the sink. Tiles can be cruel on knees. I find I use a kneeler lots now.

LIR - your courtyard looks wonderful- I love the grey colour of the wood. And the roses - the roses are fab. I have had OH bro post us up cuttings that were in their childhood home - well climbing all up the front. I had them before but they died in the cruel Winter two years back.

Hairy cat had an intense cat flap training day the other day & was clip clop, clip clop all night through it, so he has the hang of it & hasn't used his tray since - which is great. He's a clean boy.

Sorry can't remember who got the Dobbie bargains, but I've recently discovered the place & love their cream teas for two. What a treat. I love their planters, but am restraining myself until the house is further on.
It's getting there. I had to get some more kitchen cupboard doors as I didn't have enough & the ones I have are discontinued, but as I painted them I didn't need an exact match, just the Shaker style & they've come up a treat.........now where did I put the handles????

    omg best compliment ever!

Nah, I'm just a compulsive plant propagator with very little skill in placement. :o Now we're choosing colours and finishes for the house, I realise that I have little confidence or talent in that area either. :(

Mother Nature usually helps me in out of doors situations. ;)

We still haven't totalled-up after yesterday's market, but plants have flown away in gate sales today, making-up for it. :D

    I've been Money Tipped!
Three wheel barrow loads of weeds this morning alone. Our wheel barrow is double the normal size...a huge two wheeled deep tipping beastie.

And you can barely tell. :). Seriously, I could, like a tv gardener, keep a team busy, Then I would dazzle the world with my gardening excellence. :)

Warmed up a little with me, although the sun only barely showed up :(

Dropped into my local(ish) garden centre and found they well selling 3l Acer palmatum Dissectum for £9.99. Handy as I'd just chucked out the shrub/ivy that had been left to wither in a pot by the front door. Dissectum won't be winter hardy with me, so that's another one for the conservatory in due course!

10l of orchid potting mix arrived from Amazon. I follow to the letter the advice of Miss Orchid Girl on YouTube and her advice is always to re-pot shop-bought orchids to get rid of the stale sphagnum moss.

Sunny here for most of the day, but rain threatening again now. After a morning spent doing necessary but tedious business stuff we nipped out to the nursery for some retail therapy this afternoon :p Fell in love with some wonderful Arts & Crafts style planters - one was vast (DH suggested i could live in it, lol :rotfl:), terracotta and just shy of £600 which for the size and craftsmanship was well worth it ..... totally gorgeous too and perfect for our *look*. Would look wonderful with the mature olive we saw a few weeks back for £1500 at another place. However a) we have an olive (although not of such mammoth proportions) and b) we really don't need another enormous planter!

The smaller pair were lovely too and a more sensible purchase - and by comparison a real snip at £280 - but I'll still need to re-jig the terrace and find a new home for the antique staddle stones if we go ahead and purchase.

Saw some super Cornus too - China Girl and Venus......decisions, decisions!

Came away with some Mimulus - Aurantiacus and Bifidus Apricot....last of the big spenders, lol!

This week if the weather's fine I need to tackle the overgrown geranium beds - a result of the *survival of the fittest* mentality that set in whilst the house was unoccupied I guess - and set in motion plans to plant them with more cottage garden flowers......

    Take care all x

Well we cut some grass - 1st this year! Nice still outdoors but the midgies are coming out since the breeze died.

FLW so I'd better get listing stuff after salad for tea - love salad, so I do. But not ours as yet, and we'll have chips with it, so not all healthy.

Its also possible to get massive olives MUCH cheaper if you go to the importers. ( who aren't millions of miles from you...) Half that price. We could have got a great big gnarly one even with our budget.

my friend got a BIG olive in a BIG pot for less than half of that amount !!
some garden centres don't have a big market for expensive plants so hike the price up to cover maintenance/care/loss's.. if gonna be on site a while.
like LIR said , importers know their market and have a faster turnover.
im often mortified when people say the prices they have paid for things... it seems the "name" [bit like handbags!] pulls the customers in .....

ive started on the spare bedroom ... eeek ! why oh why do I keep stuff ?? I have lovely curtains that do not fit one window here... but I like em ! I have more lamp bases than Bandque ! I have a cupboard of bed throws ?
I am however [maybe] going to change my bedroom curtains for some posh roman blinds and side curtains tho gawd knows why I need posh in there as theres dog beds etc....
I could then use the 2 pairs of bedroom curtains in sun room for mums privacy [side curtains and voilles at the mo...
my house is far more complicated to outfit as I have been given too much to select from... garden seems a doddle after the last 2 days sorting out !

are you about tomorrow LIR ??
