:rotfl: my point was... why press the bluddy button if they dodge through a gap at crossings ? they teach kids to press and WAIT !!
re the cattlegrids...ive found its actually less juddery to cross at a reasonable speed than to grind to a halt... BUT that was just me having a grump
re the horses there are signs all over saying HORSES DIE,THEY DONT DENT... but sadly people who are "in a hurry" tend to try and disperse the horses using thier cars as bulldozers !
It amazes me too, the way people drive past animals on the forest. Its plain rude.
I love jaywalking though, Its a bit of a thrill in life.0 -

CTC - you will need to keep your eyes on these new owners & try & find out what they intend if there's planning restrictions - bad neighbour stuff.0

CTC... is the neighbours bovver at the 1st house ? not the ranch ? can they tell you to move stuff ? ie . is it a tad creeping on thier plot

CTC, the area around your first house is being spruced-up; maybe not in the way you would choose, but money's being spent. It started, then there was the recession, and now people are becoming more confident, so the second factory site has been bought.
Normally, this would be good news, but if land you have been using for years is now being re-claimed, I can see that it will be upsetting for you.
Unfortunately, no one can predict if or when one of these companies might make an approach to buy you out at a fair price, which would be the best scenario now. Could be years, and years of uncertainty take their toll.:(

CTC; Have to agree with Dave. But it must be very unsettling - change is always stressful, well it is for me.
Hope your plaster boarding is going well Dave.
Stew came today & we got half the ceiling (combed) in the kitchen plaster boarded. So that makes a massive progress. He's coming back tomorrow & hopefully we'll get the other slope done - ful height ceiling - slopes on both sides.
Very mild here today azzabazza in the NW. Then it chucked it down. But it was weirdly warm.0 -
Alfie, our Davesnave has hit it on the head...
the thing is I knew this time would come, and I don't know why I am upset, ( I can actually as what they called us on the phone, and saying they thought the house was derelict ) as I have got my dream smallholding.. I was holding on to see if we would be bought out etc, but it looks as though I cant cope with the stress of what is happening around the house... the 4 houses are like a little island stuck between a main road, asda and some unknown development..
I haven't spent a penny on the house in umpteen years.. so it does need major work now...
maybe because I haven't had a clean break from one house to another, I am in limbo land with my emotions/attachment to the house lolWork to live= not live to work0 -
choille - we seem to have missed out on all the rain experienced on the west coast. I had to water pots this afternoon!0

We finished the kitchen ceiling plasterboarding today, but I'm still finding the wind whistling through some gaps at the sides and under our temporary 'window' made of particle board! If the temps drop, I will have to fill these in and stick the insulation back, pronto, but it's already much calmer inside the house. Being open to the elements is all very well, but not as we head into November!
We have the water back on in there, so we'll be using it as the kitchen again for a few months till we refurbish it. It's a bit of a mess in there, but it's more convenient than boiling an egg at one end of the house, while cooking the bacon at the other! :rotfl:
Did I say, we've been offered a free top-up to the insulation, due to our post code? We'll take it, but it'll have to come out again to get the electrics done. Lucky we have the barn....:D
CTC, only you know how much hassle you can take regarding House1. I think if you can push on and start living in the Ranch, even if you are camping out a bit, it will all be much easier to bear. Like us, you may have to pause a bit for winter, though.0 -

I noticed one or two plants drooping, but I don't think it will be long now before nature steps in to do the watering.
The kids from next door have just come round to spook me, so that's All Hallows Eve over for another year! :rotfl:0
