Sorry, been so busy......
Tinky still with us BD, but I'd never have started treatment if I'd known it would take so long! There are daily small signs of improvement, of course, but it's hard without the confidence that we'll reach a happy outcome.
More positive news is that I have sold the Aga for £200.
Bought by a business person, who deals, so I'm sure he's satisfied it's a bargain. I'm happy if he has the skills to remove it without too much drama.
Someone offered me £40 for the oil tank, which I rejected. l'll let the auction run.:p
No one seems to want my 6 metre beam....Don't blame them! :rotfl:
In other news, we put a ceiling in the garage today and took delivery of all the insulation and thermal blocks that will go into the floor & walls. It's going to be an exceptionally warm place, especially when I 'lose' a lot of the spare loft insulation I have above it!
Need to get Mr Rod & his chums back to skim the last two bedrooms, but he's not easy to contact....:undecided
Poor Old Dog and poor you! We have a pact in this house when it comes to clearing-up: I do sick and DW does poo!0 -
Morning all,
We got a pact too, I clean up after the cats, and hubby cleans up after the kids if they were sick etc, but now that they are both sides if 20 they can bloody well do it themselves lol..
We had no choice when we put rocky to sleep, but I can remember when we had dogs when we were younger. My parents would only do so much, before giving our dogs dignity .. As my mother said even though heart breaking there cones a point where you got to think of the quality of life of the dog...
We had to do this with 2 piglets before.. We had the vet up twice them, and they would get better, but a week or two later start slipping back.. ( when born they picked up an infection via bibbbble cord) which effects the joints, like an early onset of arthritis .we tried our best ..and money no object via the vet, but it would have been cruel to try and keep them going, so we had to call the hunt guy in..
Well I had all good intentions last night to list, took some pics but got side tracked, so going into work early this morning to get some done.
Factory people are starting to fence, so last night I told hubby he can have a few days off work, and just do a clean sweep of everything in the house, except my sewing machine and my vintage clothibg/ fabric etc. Everything else can go... Can't do it anymore.. It will be like just upping sticks and walking away ( hopefully)Work to live= not live to work0 -
We might have to create a pact.
I kill the idiots who wake me up parking up in the middle of the night with their loud music and silly boy driving techniques, and fir hides the bodies.
Seriously, those of you with young people at home.....please god tell them not to park up in farm gates near houses for a bit of nookie. Night before last the dogs had me up twice, last night the car was super loud, so dogs didn't care as they knew I was aware, but it woke me up and I couldn't get back to sleep after I'd scared them off ( just by turning my light on.....flighty things, parkers).
I am really ready for blood now. Wake me up and risk the wrath of a ...I dunno, a very tired woman.0 -
morning all...
beautifull sunny morning here... till next door lit a BONFIRE right on the hedgeline.... I had just opened windows and admiring the sun streaming in when this white shadowy line was in view... so had to shut windows quick... honestly ! why do they do it... hope the wind changes and it goes into their house...

Or maybe just put up a notice saying:ADVISORY NOTICE
Infra-red wildlife cameras operate in this location.Don't make it too strident and it'll be more believable.0 -

Sounds like a good idea. Whoever is nearest or finds it does it here. Usually me as I'm home most.
Good news on Tinky and the Aga sale.
Lovely day here. Was chilly yesterday but warmer today with some sunshine as well.
Phoebe, I've still got some of my late Dad's tools (he used to make parts for his bike) can't bring myself to part with them, but will never use them. As you say it takes time to move on, but in the meantime they can stay with all of our clutter in the garage.
Well, operation cluck hasn't worked. Still no sign of even a single egg to give us hope. Perhaps we'll get another couple of chucks from the BHWT - but then if the current ones start laying again we could end up with 6 a day.....It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

And here's my little sedum garden.
Grew them from seed last year. Mr BD made the box out of an old pallet. Its doing very well although occasionally the blackbirds do make a bit of a mess pulling it over.It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Your sedum garden looks very pretty BD
We had the same issue with tools when my uncle passed away in 2008. He was a carpenter and joiner and had a whole workshop full at his house that we had to clear before the place could be sold......also included were some that had belonged to his grandfather. DH took a few as did my dad (which have now passed to DH), but many had to be scrapped.....so sad, but you can't keep everything unfortunately. Sorry to hear that Operation Cluck didn't work, btw
Dave, good news about the aga sale. I must admit I've seriously considered selling the one we inherited when we bought this place, especially as we plan to move the kitchen (but not the aga) into a different room. Ours is gas though, not oil, which is slightly better IMHO, but we did have a massive bill for the first few (Winter) months we were hereWe do, however, have a disused oil tank in the garden - you've reminded me that we need to think about getting rid of that
Pleased to hear that Tinky Winky is showing some signs of improvement
LIR, what a pita for you.....blooming kids (assuming that's who it was!) This is why - however controversial it may seem - when DS first started going out with his GF (at the tender age of 16 - they actually got together at his 16th birthday party, immediately before entering their school Sixth Form), we opted not to discourage them to sleep together under our roof. We knew if we didn't they'd just go off and do it elsewhere, and possibly make a nuisance of themselves in the process......I knew all about that from my own very old fashioned teenage years in the 1980s, lol!
They had been friends from when she joined his school at the age of twelve and it was her encouragement that got him through GCSEs (and later 4 A levels - AAAB) so we could see she was a positive influence. Nine years on they're still together (managing to sustain their relationship through three years at different unis and remaining faithful throughout) and we've always had a very good relationship with them as a couple, being able to discuss stuff freely and openly, so it must have been the right thing to do. We're incredibly proud of them both tbh
Dull day overall here, with occasional bursts of sunshine, but I'm on painting duty today whilst DH does more listingMortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0 -
It's Mr BD's job to clean out the cat litter tray. I commented that there was a strong smell of cat wee, and narrowed it down to the pooper scooper.
Mr BD's response was 'shall I put it in the dishwasher?'

Perhaps he is a bit distracted as it is the opening night of Sweet Charity tonightIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
