Waves hello....gosh it's very quiet on here today. Have you all been doing garden tidying jobs like me? I love and hate this time of year equally in the garden. I love seeing new bulbs come up, the trees changing, berries glistening, and in some ways I like tidying the garden and making it neat again after the exuberance of summer. But I hate the cold in my hands and the wet on my knees, and I hate the way the weeds seem to love it and be romping away lol. I have done loads last week and this and yet the garden still looks a real mess and I still can't post photos....sorry.
    I hope everyone is ok.

Just dropping by this (relatively) new & shiny thread to say hi :D

I've been off the radar for a number of reasons, but am [STRIKE]pleased[/STRIKE] ecstatic to report that after five weeks on the market our current (and now very finished!) project went SSTC recently and we're hopefully off to pastures new next month :j That was good going as our neighbour had predicted twelve months to sell, going by local tradition......

We're hoping to relocate to a new area and have found somewhere that needs far, far less work than this house did so with any luck we can chill for a bit after our three years slogging away here :o

The new house is in a far better location for me as a non-driver - edge of a popular, pretty village with 30+ shops within fifteen minutes walk as well as one of my favourite NT properties on the doorstep! DH says he's never been so excited about any house we've bought.....and he's usually the laid back one, lol! It's a very unusual period detached house, but with a far smaller garden (1/5 acre - maybe 1/4) - we will be able to have chickens though, which we never got round to here :D

Will try to pop by more frequently once we're moved in and settled, but for now there's a ton of packing to do.

Love to Daydreamers, old and new and thanks for all the advice so freely given here over the past months/years x

Forgot to say, our *new* garden will be an interesting project in itself - it was originally beautifully manicured but the house has lain empty for some time and as a result the garden now resembles a jungle. The bones are still there though - as well as an amazing wisteria - just waiting to be re-awoken, a bit like a mini Heligan!

Oh dear, were they locked-up or was it broad daylight?

Poor Maran will be lonely, but the crowing....well, we have a Vorwerk that does that and she has three Vorwerk mates. But if Ms Maran hasn't done it before, then it sounds like some kind of reaction.

Still a bit busy. Last night we dedicated our final Friday fish & chip run before the clocks go back as a special celebration of the tarpaulin being removed. :j We don't have all the tiles on yet, but another few days should see the roofing finished, till spring anyway. Looks like we got away with it! :D

I just flumped when we got home, so no posting here last night, nor this morning, which was spent emptying the loft of DD1's remaining [STRIKE] junk[/STRIKE] sentimentally valuable belongings. DW is going up to see her soon with that blooming bed she won on eBay and 10 large boxes of stuff! :T
In the middle of the day we had lunch in the Community Cafe, which is a relatively new fund raising venture we've missed until now. :oEvery month, volunteers cook lunch for villagers who care to pop in to the Hall for a bite and a chat. It's proper food too, like cottage pie, chicken and leek pie, sausage egg & bacon etc + the usual range of puddings, all at embarrassingly reasonable prices. No wonder it was packed -out. I love this village! :D

Fay, I quite like this time of year. I love clearing up the garden (but not too tidily!) and doing all the jobs there's no time for in the warmer months. I like having the woodburner glowing in the living room and seeing a few candles lit. I even enjoy having the sheep over for their winter holiday, provided they behave! :rotfl:

Phoebe, good to hear from you, and your great news of selling so fast!:beer:

1/4 acre is fine. That's about what we used to have, and we ran a business on it!

The new garden sounds very exciting, especially the bit about the bare bones beneath. We hoped for something like that here, but all we found were labels! :rotfl:

Sorry to hear of the chicken loses CTC. Do you know what got them?

Congratulations on the new house \Phoebe. Sounds ideal.

Good the cat is making a good recovery Alfie.

Went out last night to put something in the shed & disturbed a badger eating some bread & thrown out earlier for the birds - \I shouldn't do that I suppose. I did get a startle with it.

It's blowing a right hooley here & the rain has been torrential. A nasty day.
