I need two new front tyres and now this :( gotta try and get it into garage asap, and must have a courtesy car ... so gonna have to be the merc garage not my local one  £££££s
    p

I thought your van was pretty new? Not a thing that should happen to a young van IMO. Fit for purpose? Sale of goods, goodwill and all that....:(;)

Our Merc is bombproof mechanically, but the cabin is awful. Cheap plastics that fall apart as soon as you look at them! That's something Ford could teach Mercedes...and how to make an ergonomically good seat! :p

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Popping back in

Great your Mum is home again IHS. Sorry your leg is so sore Chollie - must be very frustrating when you want to get things done.

Had a hard week. Thanks for all the kind words about Old Dog. She has been to vets three times since Saturday. She has had some painkiller injections as we haven't been able to give her her usual meds. She still isn't really eating but did take some a-d (which is very palatable) earlier. Vet has given her some more meds today.

She was quite depressed the last couple of days, but has perked up now (had family staying and it was a bit much for her I think). My friend who works at the vets saw her today and said that she thought she was looking better. Atm she is still up for going for short walks and her pain is under control. But we do need to get her eating properly, and if we don't there isn't anything more we can do :(

Our other dog has had this bug too, and he still isn't back to normal with his eating even though he started off fit and healthy. So it has knocked the stuffing out of both of them, but with a frail elderly dog it is so much more dangerous. Vet has asked for a phone call tomorrow for progress so close monitoring to decide if we should continue...or not......
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Mum back into hospital tonight, just waved off the ambulance :( She's been sick all day despite a visit from local GP, so I drove over and then called NHS24 and the duty GP re-admitted. She couldn't even keep down the drugs they'd prescribed after the heart attack.

Mum always says that when it's a man on the phone or speaking to GPs they pay more attention to me than to her!

Hospital best place for her really, as dad couldn't cope with an emergency during the night and the carers aren't geared up for someone who is bed-ridden and needs continual care.

Anyhow, back home for me now. I'd been doing well too, moving plants to make space and planting out new arrivals. The hosta 'Blue Angel' a bought last week looks to be a very strong grower, massive root system. I already have hosta 'Big daddy' which is impervious to slugs and this looks to be the same.

IHS.... sorry to hear your mum had a rough day, and is now back in hospital... fingers crossed its only a bug she has picked up, and its not long before she is on the mend...

some of or new windows are in, just got to save up now for the 4 on the other side of the house lol,

I will upload some pics, but the pictures really don't do them justice...

went for 'sash' lookalikes in the end... there was no way we could afford nice wooden windows, and TBH,, us and household maint. is not really a marriage made in heaven lol... and the proper sash pvc windows were very expensive too, we could have spend ages saving up for them, but its all about balance and compromise with our money...

Alfie... you will be pleased to know ( along with us lol) that the 'other' pine end that looked as though it was bowing, and potentially needed to be re-built, well we finally hacked off all that old concrete render, and apart from a little bit of old movement, and old houses not having one single straight wall anywhere in sight lol.. its great... it looks as though whoever done the rendering, must have been piddled, or had a load of cement cheap.. and just splattered it on, in various thicknesses lol..

The chimley is coming down though, as that is leaning over, due to the weight..

so a big 'sigh' of relief .. as that is a HUGE amount of money we don't need to find

EDIT.... I know they are out there somewhere, but do you know anywhere, where you can buy 'fake' chimley stacks?? as you can see, as a temp measure we have taken them down, ( going to take the other one down too on the other side of the house) otherwise will have to re-built them later on, as the house does look wired without them lol
