Easter Sunday started quiet enough, with just a distant peal of bells from town. Then, about 09.30, the dogs started up, so that made up my mind. It's not that they were that loud, the wind then being a better direction for us, but it was just the fact that the Mr & Mrs Dog had gone out for the day and ruined the quietness for the rest of us.

So.... off I went with my larger ladder and saw. In an hour I'd dropped all the lower branches on the oaks, which had been causing complaints from Pete and the guy who does the baling. Pete was supposed to do this, but.....:o

Anyway, it was so dry I took the van into the field, loaded up all the larger branches and I'd cleaned-up completely before they came home at 3pm. By then, I was just weeding...

It will be fairly obvious something has happened, though it might take some time for Mr D to work it out. Basically, he won't have the cover he's enjoyed in years past now, so we'll be seeing a lot more of each other from now on, albeit at quite a distance. :smileyhea It's actually 200m, so only someone like him would be concerned by it! :rotfl:

Thanks! That's because it's so small I can work inch by inch :). Did manage a token bit of gardening, moving some 'over' crocus out of sight and replacing with the pasque flower 'white swan'.

Loads and loads of seedlings of perpetual cornflower, it grows like a weed with me.

I was just looking back at Photobucket and it was Easter 2014 when I was digging in the mud to lay drainage pipes and starting to think it was all a very bad idea...

Oh how lovely Alfie. I've been looking at a corner sofa, it's lovelt.

I've lost a few plants this year and I'm not sure why because it wasn't a bad winter-lost a bleeding heart, pulsatilla and a peony

    I've been Money Tipped!
The fields here were so noisy last night.........squeaking, calling, whooping, hooting, snuffling, grunting........it was deafening. We didn't get much sleep for the wildlife.

Still. We're just about to bath and then show horn me out of the property. ;)

We're going to take the dogs for a stroll around a Cotswold village I think, so we can say we got out some where this weekend.

Yes, I noticed that there was more 'going on' than usual too, though I didn't hang about long in the dark, as it had turned chilly by the time I locked-up.

It looks as if we might be about to lose some of our apple trees, ratrher ironically after a winter when the orchard wasn't waterlogged.

It's the sheep: this year, they've learned to climb above the trunk protection we've used in the past and stripped the bark higher up. I did protect the most vulnerable exposed bits for a while with blackthorn fixed-on, and it worked for a while, but then they overcame those defences....:( Just didn't spot it with other stuff distracting me. :o

I'm not too bothered. Some of the trees were of questionable quality and we have far too many for our needs. There will still be survivors in that area and we can infill with others, even just 'decorative' ones. I've raised a few damsons to plant out and allow to run wild, and I've a new Bramley going in today somewhere else.:p

In other news, we have almost finished the office and we've a carpet for it too, but fitting will not be for another 9 days. By then, we should also be completing the utility room and cloakroom paintwork. The hallway will still need the wainscoting added when our builder returns in about 3 weeks, but once that's done, we'll be more or less finished the fiddly bits at one end. :D

    Still masses to do though!

Just FYI, M&S are selling off 'concrete' bowls for £16, down from £45 or £49.

I picked up the white 'medium' size one. I'd say it's actually more a stone/resin than concrete as it's not silly-heavy. Has a hole in the bottom, so I shall plant-up and use outside.
