50% off at Homebase, once the terracotta has weathered a bit will be in a Chinese home-from-home between bamboo and camellia.

Apart from the height, there's no resemblance whatever! :p

I'm not doing another renovation! Spent most of today moving possessions/furniture to give access to the last of the bedrooms. Much stuff had migrated to that room :o and it also contained a triple wardrobe....:(

Slowly, but inexorably, the havoc has moved through the house, so only this room, a bathroom and a shower room have remained untouched. Unfortunately, in the wake of the destruction, not one room has yet been 'finished' though we have a passable bedroom and a few days work will sort the office and utility. :)

So, after the coming 4 day week, our builder will be taking a few weeks break. He has a quality item of furniture to make for another good customer, which will take 2-3 weeks. I want him to do this so we'll get a break, and he'll get a change of scene. :D

We will be using the break to catch our breath and catch-up. The work has been relentless since last June, we're flagging and the garden will need us too. It still hasn't recovered from Mr Rod driving a digger through it and laying drains! :(:(

Well, Horse Woman hasn't found cancelling the plumber such a money-saving wheeze after all. She doesn't smell too great at the best of times, but she's endured a week without hot water and her son has been there for two days now.....

Last night I was called to lend a hand removing the old hot water tank which was about 8' long and up a very narrow staircase. Her son assured me that it had been 'thoroughly drained,' but I've done this job before, so I let him take the downward end....;)

Yup, half way down there was a shout of "Bloody hell!" as horribly rusty water cascaded from somewhere inside.

That's a new stair carpet, for sure. :(

    Hi All,

Phoebe my condolence. My Mum died from Alzheimer's & it was an awful time - years of dying. I think you do a lot of grieving whilst they are still alive. Hope things are easier. It is such an awful disease.

LIR - Hope that you are still feeling better & are getting better weather than us - everyone is getting better weather than us. It's disgusting again here - snow, sleet, gales. Poor sheep. No respite.

House is moving slowly on - great progress really, but some bathroom stuff arrived damaged - which is a pain. Just cardboard round it - I pack better than that for stuff I flog on the bay at a fraction of the price.
Noticed my Dicentra spurting upwards * lupin coming up. Daffs are coming out - seem much more this year. My cheap hyacinths are a gorgeous magenta colour - beautiful.
Not done any gardening as yet - it's too awful & I'm too hectic in the house.

Hope you enjoy the break from the works Dave. What we had done wasn't nearly as disruptive as your renovations but constantly having workmen in the house, sorting materials, chasing all and sundry, living in a state of flux is very wearing.

And I think you are much more handsome than IHS's terracotta warrior - especially with boobs, fancy hat and makeup ;)

Dull and damp here, but not too chilly. Dire warnings of rain on the BBC so when it arrives Mr BD's mission will be to go up into the loft to see if the latest roof repair has been successful.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

    morning all,

BD you are lucky if you have only got rain at mo

its absolutely blowing a gale, rain is coming down sidewards.. been like it all night, no let up..hope it does though, as we supposed to pick a large trailer up later, came to an agreement with seller on ebay, on a price if he sold it off ebay, but he is keeping it listed until we pick it up ( which is fair enough) really don't fancy picking it up in this wind... especially as there is parts of the m4 that are open and a gentle breeze feels like a hurricane lol..

will see if it calms down later this afternoon, if not will see if hubby can pick it up tomorrow..

Piggles are doing really well, so will try and take more pics to show you all.. I am really proud of our pigs lol.. to think a few years ago it was only a dream.. 'sigh'

think the clocks going forward is going to throw me later lol

Not a day to be taking items of furniture to the barn, which is why we did it yesterday. :D

It looks like a day for paperwork and painting, as the polytunnel will be too noisy. :( We should start harvesting the first radishes in there this week. I have peas and courgettes in as well....:)

Determined not to see kiwi get the attention dog dog caught and killed a rat this morning. My vet once called her my Swiss Army knife dog, seems like she is determined to prove it.
