Sometimes when I'm feeling a little naughty I move them onto the far side of his bedside table before he wakes up, hehehehehe.

That's cruel! Whenever I can't find mine, I go into panic mode.

But there again, mine are so comfy, I often sleep with them on. :D

Plasterers back today and hopefully finishing in the utility/cloakroom/office/hallway. Third bedroom will be done by early next week. :)

I know, it leads to all sorts of tickle punishments :D makes me want to move them more

Plasterers are so darn quick, its amazing that such a huge difference is made in such a short time. :)

I don't know how you got to talk to H*wd*ns in the first place, as they're trade only. They don't really talk to me much, food or no food. :( They give me notebooks and pencils virtually every time I go in, though. :)

Our builder got him to call round to measure up and do a plan. His plan was hopeless and I didn't particularly like any of the stuff they had at the time, it was just boring. But we might have gone with them if he'd actually addressed me at all.

They aren't planners, just 'stuff shifters,' but at a given price point they're OK. I agree there's not a lot stands out in their current range, but if I put my mind to it, I could do a passable copy of a local firm's fairly traditional kitchens at under half the price.

Unfortunately, DW isn't on the same page with me over style, so that won't happen. :(

Fir's glasses are exoensive too. He reuses frames for years. His ultra thin lenses are still too thick for lots of frames! So the ultra thin is less indulgent expense that it might sound. His are also varifocals.

Yes my ultra thins are 7mm at the edge and don't fit all frames, daren't think what they would be like without the 'thinning' technology.

Like you Dave I panic if I can't find my specs - not easy to look for them if my hand in front of my face is a blurr. It took me a while to adjust to varifocals, but they are fine now. What I couldn't adjust to is those contact lenses that correct the short sight in one eye and long sight in the other and leave your brain to sort it out. My 'little grey cells' declined :o:o:o

Spate of burglaries round here recently. I've signed up to Neighbourhood Watch and the Police Connect emails, not sure if I am now more aware or there are more crimes. The PO where Mr BD works from was subject to an armed robbery a couple of weeks ago, as was the PO in a nearby village, and yesterday arrests were made.

Chap I know through a friend who lives a mile or so away had his house turned over too. Not much stolen and thankfully his animals were unharmed but still very unpleasant.

Mr BD has decided to spend his 'thank you' money from customers on his old round on a Hudl tablet. They seem to be really good value for the money.

Davesnave, in some of the pictures you can see a distinct diff in the soil.. most of it is really dark, and then there is a light patch in the distance.

I know its hard with just looking at a picture, and it was a damp area, due to it being shaded with the over grown trees/privet , which we are in the middle of cutting right back hard to get the sun back on it, but what do you think? will there be certain flowers/veg that I will not be able to grow??

    Soil looks OK to me.:)

As I said yesterday, dark soil can indicate where the thunderbox was emptied - occupational soil - but maybe yours is dark anyway due to mining nearby? Also, the chicken muck had to go somewhere, didn't it? :D

When my relatives were alive, living near Ammanford, their soil was dark due to the coal workings. One pair were fairly hopeless gardeners, whose garden always looked ill, but the others, 100m away, had a great garden.

They had old brick pig sheds at the ends of their gardens too, long unused, but this shows there would have been plenty of muck used in the old days. ;)

Looks like you have a great space there now, anyway. Get some light into it and go for it!
  • thanks Davesanve..

its is a fair size, will get hubby to measure later..

its a great which can be used to grow things with surplus or areas used to grow things to sell on a small scale, hence flowers etc, which could be planted sown intween the veg, or around the edges..

  • That's a big clearance CTC, especially if they were brambles in the middle. Got some in my front garden and they are the devil to get rid of. Just keep popping up.

Useful sized area now. Looking along the patch which way does it face? You can then decide if any of the trees need a trim to let in sunlight.

How's your son's lack of teethache today alfie? Not too much pain I hope.

Since the autumn I've been putting all the chicken coop shavings and poo in the compost bin, I hope it will compost down nicely and I can use it on the garden.

My tomatoes got blight last year - which are the best blight resistant ones Dave? (You have probably told me this before but I forgot treat your wisdom with the reverence it deserves and write it down :o )

Courgettes did well last year as did the radishes but the latter were a bit bland. Know any good 'knock your socks' off varieties? I've got some Tesco vouchers which I can use to buy T&M vouchers and they are burning a hole in my virtual pocket. :D

Bright and chilly today. Old dog has perked up considerably :D:D:D:D

ok here goes, our complex super-douper measurement plan lol

the bottom of this garden is 13 mtres(42.65)

with the over all length of the workable part is 30 mtres (98.42 feet)

    then on the footpath side

there is 10 mtres and then a bit of a slope.(32.80)

later on if/when we got money we might build a bit of a retaining wall with steps going down so the over all garden would be on two levels... if that makes sense...

going to use the old hardcore /building rubble to make a main path, and wack it down and put some 'nice' stuff over the top...

so guess my summer is now planned/sorted lol..
