Dental implants that isIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

it could be your roof capping, only got to have loose cement etc and rain is driven in by wind etc. a good builder can backtrack by the water stains but def need to get him in whilst it IS wet now. if it is under the felt dont look now if its still raining as it will give you an ensuite shower
....... if its the capping then depending on access and height it will mean good ladder work or scaffolding. at least if it is following the line to your chimney , chances are builder will at least know a line to locate entry.
Many thanks alfie
Not come across anything like this before so don't really know what is important and what isn't. Builder will need scaffolding again to get up on the roof due to the height and the pitch. Next house will be a bumgalow again;)
Mr BD has been on the phone to the builder and he is only working in the next village so he is going to pop round and have a look for us shortly. Lets hope he can work out where the bloomin' water is coming in. I think given the state of the plaster in the bedroom this has been a longstanding problem which has been bodged in the past (builder found a tar brush on the roof when he went up to do the chimney)It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Mr BD says he thinks not, thanks for the suggestion though, as it is worth checking everything. The difficulty is when the water goes sideways rather than straight down iyswim.
Mr BD and builder no in the loft so lets hope they can find the point of ingress. Old dog's hearing seems to have perked up today and she is barking like the hound of the baskervilles with daft as a brush lurcher joining in for good measure....I'm going to get a headache but it will be worth it if the builder finds the leakIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Builder has gone.
You were right alfie. He reckons the rain is blowing under the ridge tiles and the felt isn't fitted as it should be so the water is getting in. Another days work to take it all off and fix it.
The cost of this will delay getting the flooring done in the hall kitchen and utility. Still, it has to be done, and no point in making the house nice inside if the bloomin' roof is leaking.;) Ahh well, could be a lot worse. And cauliflower cheese for tea, one of my favourites.:DIt is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Are you sure they didn't burn it down themselves CTC?
Pubs aren't terribly profitable these days, or so many wouldn't be closing.
Our village's second pub has re-opened , but the main business conducted there concerns......hats! The real ale is a sideline, but having tried some, I must say it's very good.:) I hope they do well. Like many others, I don't go much on t'other pub.
Lovely afternoon here, completely wasted on a round trip to H*wd*ns to collect a worktop, which turned-out to be damaged. They can get one by tomorrow pm, but do I want to burn 40 miles worth of diesel to fetch it? .....No.:p
Worse still, I spotted a worktop we wanted earlier, before being told it was discontinued Thinking I'd be helpful, I offered to buy it instead...
"Oh no mate, we can't sell that; it has to go in the bin!"
Pluses and minuses at the dentist. The petite lady was still there, still very pleasant and generally happy with my gnashers.
However, trying to be helpful again, I offered the receptionist about a dozen copies of 'Gardens Illustrated,' an up-market magazine, heavy on the photos, but with some good articles.
"Oh no," she said, "we don't accept donated magazines, we have our own selection delivered monthly."
Well that told me! Now I know who is responsible for all those copies of 'Hello!' and similar. :rotfl:
The Health Centre accepted them gladly,:p:p and they have a great selection, probably for just that reason.

I got my seeds from Higgledy today, with a nice personal note handwritten thanking me for ordering from him again! Gobsmacked! Nice touch though dontyathink? :j Not sure how we're going to get to sowing - need to do a trip to Wilkos I think, for pots etc. But too much else going on. arrgghh! Need blood test, and have been putting eye test off for about 3 years now and my glasses don't really work as well as they should. Glasses will be expensive item too! Need 3 - reading, distance and varifocal. It came to about £600 last time, which is partly why I've been slow to go back.
But really need to do it I think. It's not just the glasses - the other stuff they do is important.
We have someone interested in Old Home, please cross your fingers that her structural engineer is happy with it! (or at least happy enough)0 -

Fingers duly crossed for you;);)
The lenses for my glasses are rather expensive too. Last time I went to the local optician they wanted £500 (not including the frames) and those weren't even photochromatic which I need.
For anyone who lives within a reasonable distance of Cambridge, the eye clinic at Anglia Ruskin Uni is well worth going to. They have fab equipment which takes 3d images of your retina (great for monitoring changes) and they made up lenses for me specially, exactly what I wanted for only £250 (I think the NHS gave me the grand sum of £10 to contribute). I do get free eye tests as I need complex lenses but even if you have to pay its reasonable.
Dave, H*wd*ns rep insisted on talking to the builder earlier this week even though I told him he was up on the roof fixing the chimney. I thought it must be something important but all it was was that the rep had seen the van on the drive and wanted to tell the builder about the new catalogue.:mad:It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.
