When I worked a couple of colleagues who had allotments used to bring in excess produce to sell - proceeds to charity. For some reason rhubarb was never popular. I used to buy loads because I was always happy to have some in the freezer for crumbles etc. I think I paid something like 50p for 10 stalks. OH was a bit perturbed when I came home one day with about 10 bundles!

thanks, so it might be worth touting the chutney makers on FB and in the farmers markets then lol

Wind speed has really increased with me in last 60 mins. I got home driving through downpours but now it's gusting around 30mph to 35mph and howling in the trees but not due to peak until midnight.

Hope everyone catching this westerly has hatches battened down.

Weather quite disgusting still & fields like flooded - just running with water. I really feel for the sheep - it's dreadful.

Had a poorly lamb who is now much better, but this continuous wet is really not good - whinge whinge.

Plumber was supposed to be back today but called off......again, but he & his mate are really cracking on when they are here. He's very good, but sporadic.......

Pick up kitchen island on Monday with the help of plasterer - hopefully if things go to plan - which would be odd if they actually did. It will be in the way but good to get a look at it again - ages since I actually bought it.

!!!!! Willow out on the trees, but it's so windy & cold - although keeps going really mild - weather all over the place.

Hope everyone is well. Spring happens tomorrow..................White rabbits, white rabbits, white rabbits..............

I would lay off the beans for a while then lol.. hope everyone is ok.. we have been having sudden gusts of wind throughout the night, but I should imagine its nothing compared what you are getting up north...

we are coming to the end of the wood that we chopped up last year, and this winter we have only bought approx. 5 bags of coal, and the odd couple of brickette things from home bargains.. when we didn't have any of our stored wood split.. compared to how much we used to spend on coal etc years ago, its brilliant lol... once the weather changes, and the clocks go forward, we will be back on, collecting the fallen branches, and cutting down some of the dead trees etc ready for next winters logs...

    right cuppa time...

BiL is here in his caravan. Last night, he said it was rocking and rolling, but to be honest the wind was nothing very special for here and he's pretty sheltered. :p

Not much to report. Plasterers have finished, so it will be on with hanging doors, fixing skirtings and putting-up coving, not in that order though! DW has made protective jackets for all the new doors out of polytunnel plastic. ;)

Found some of my snowdrops. They were just late, and not so strong as they will be when fully established. :)

Weather really changeable here. Reports had given us a wet forecast so we resolved to spend weekend indoors. ( not worst idea, I have a cold). But this morning its going from quite nice to a bit grim. I have risked putting some washing on the line. :).

It was nice first thing here too LIR, but is noe going grey and looking like rain.

Hubby is going up the ranch, and I am going to do some batch cooking along side making a beef dinner.

Didn't manage to do any sowing this weekend, boo, but will try and do the odd packet or two during the week.

Only managed half an hour out the back this morning. Cold wind, it is east facing so next to no sun at this time of year. Found a stash of fags ends behind the pots which back on to neighbour's fence. Will need to keep an eye on said location - maybe next door's teenage son has started smoking :naughty:

Dare I say it's been really nice here today, so far? Stiff breeze but lots of sun and blue sky. :D

The polytunnel is becoming very warm now in daytime, so I'll have to start ventilating properly. :)

A few shrub seeds which I've had planted for over a year now have started to germinate. :j Mixed, pig in a poke seeds, so no idea what they are!
