Thanks FK you are right, animals do hide illness and when they are old and quite frail and have other heatlh issues it is not always easy to identify what is significant and what is simply aging.

Our old dog is now I think nearly blind and pretty deaf (she never hears the doorbell now which previously had her barking like the hound of the Baskervilles ;))

And like your old dog I do wonder sometimes if there is a bit of dementia creeping in. Sometimes she is restless and seems a bit confused. I think part of the problem is that it is now more difficult to reassure with our voices as she can't hear much. Main thing now is to keep her as comfortable and happy as possible.

I think I might like a bit of that gaba-whatsit, as I'm feeling my age today. :o

All the same, I've been outside doing something or other, as we had no leccy from 8 till 5, thanks to Western Power's 'improvements.' I'm not sure where they were doing these, but it wasn't swapping any poles near here, because I'd have seen the vans and men in orange jackets.

DW returns tomorrow. :D Little Sam is on the mend properly now, but it seems his tear ducts may be blocked, which is what probably caused the infection. The docs will keep an eye on this. It's not uncommon. :)

Off to a rehearsal soon. Panto's next week. Once that ("A Christmas Carol"!!!) is out of the way, I'll maybe feel that we're leaving winter behind.

Better Days, did you see our illness has a new name in USA. SEID (dies backwards! :rotfl: ) systemic exertion intolerance disease. At least they recognise as a Disease rather than a mere syndrome. Not had time and energy to read about it properly yet. Really carp last few days suspect have some sub-clinical cold/virus thing.

OH is out tonight, lots of politics! :rotfl: Turns out there is a 38 Degrees meeting and a Green Party meeting, both in Lark Lane though different venues. He will be rushing betwixt and between I think! I've spent the last 2 days in bed after time at old home on Monday when we both did a bit more sorting after showing someone around. We seem to have about 5 people booked in for viewings over next few days, thankfully agents will be doing them.

Was amazed when we went to old home on Monday to see how tall some of the bamboo had grown! I'm going to harvest it all for the lottie ASAP. And then it's go through the shed at old home, think will find a lot of useful stuff in there. Just need a warmer day than recently for us to have enuff "oomph" to get in there. Will need car loads of stuff to tip as well I suspect. <roll eyes smiley>

Thanks maggie, not what you would call catchy is it? Exertion intolerance is better than chronic fatigue but not much, especially if the reason for the intolerance is judged to be abnormal illness beliefs (as suggested by the latest paper in the BMJ culled from PACE).

If they had to change it why not just use ME or something around Post exertional neuroimmune exhaustion (a la Canadian Criteria). The important thing will now will be where it is catalogued in the ICD. If they go for F43 (psychological) rather than G93 (neurological) then it will set back research and understanding years.

Hope you feel better soon, keep warm.

Dave I've sent you some virtual gabawhatsit from the doggy medicine cabinet - hope it does the trick, and you enjoy the Panto rehearsal :D

my old gal did exactly that last year and after a vet visit, she had a severe urine infection. she didnt winge or whine but im glad i took her to vets. with boy dogs it can be urine crystals/stones OR an infection. i strongly suggest you get it checked out. as like we have all observed they dont tell us...........

Yes Alfie, it was checked out at the time, and all fine. He developed a strange cough so I took him to the vet, said I noticed him drinking more and this odd confused behaviour. The vet did a urine sample to rule out crystals etc, and for the cough he was on antibiotics so if there was an infection it would have been caught. We came to the conclusion his sore throat was making him drink more and therefore need to pee more. It was keeping him awake at night and I was sleeping downstairs to comfort him and so I didn't have so far to go to let him out!

Can't say I've noticed any of that behaviour lately, and he's sleeping through the night again. He still looks for me to come outside with him, but I think that's because he thinks we're going to see the sheep every time I open the back door!

Just watching a bit of comic relief bake off, it's definitely comic :rotfl:

PM me a decent pic and I'll have a think. I was studying William Morris wallpapers and fabrics when was at art skool back in early 70s. Still have an interest, but given price of the stuff haven't really kept abreast of it all.

Or email me magswallace at gmail com (will delete this later)

Off to watch Wolf Hall so won't be around for an hour!

If you copy the url of the curtain fabric on your photo hosting site then search.Or download the extension mentioned for either firefox or chrome and then use the extension - never done it myself but surely it can't be that hard :o

Off to bed now, but you can pm me a photo of the fabric tomorrow and I'll have a go if you don't have any luck this evening. ;)

Not able to do that Alfie, but (being somewhat obsessed with the Arts & Crafts Movement) I do have masses of reference books on William Morris etc so might be able to identify the pattern if you post up a pic of your fabric ;)

ETA - Sorry, didn't notice that Maggie and BD had already offered.....doh!

BD and FK - sorry to hear about your dear dogs....{{{hugs}}}....I so dread the day when our pets start to get frail. Our old kitty is fifteen this year, the eldest cat I've ever had. He's still in good health, but am well aware he can't go on for ever :(
