  • Morning all,

loads going on, but not much to talk about if that makes sense lol..

Basically its head down, arrr$$$e up and working out butts off in work,

After trying to get hold of stonemason last month, and saying that's it, we will find someone else etc, he showed up in work yesterday,, by all accounts he didn't pay his mobile phone monthly charge, so they put a block on his phone...

so it looks like depending on the weather next week, there might be some serious chin stroking, sucking in of the cheeks and some tutting going on, when we put the scaffolding up on the other end of the house, ( which is the major headache side) when we finish off hacking off the top end of the wall, and see exactly the extend of the state of the wall..and the joining back wall..

We haven't worked a Friday for a long time, but going in today, to get some major sorting of my vintage goodies, and see what I will be trying to sell etc..

Its really nice having the lighter nights coming I now.. only a couple more weeks and fingers crossed the nice weather like we had this week will kick in properly lol

Dry but a chilling breeze today. Yesterday was great got a load of firewood in the #new# trailer. Was going to be burnt, but we liberated it before they lit the pyre!

Got all the hay here too - trailer is working like a mule.

Plumber was going to be coming today & tomorrow but his van has broken down - he's just phoned. I will get the trailer unloaded & wood a bit sorted & then I have a housekeeping thing to do nearby. Plumbers bah...........................

The car has had everything in it including livestock - not surprised it's jiggered & smells a bit like an old crofter - that'll be us!

The hare fabric is gorgeous. There's something about hares that is magical.

That Stanley cooker/stove is the biz CTC - you should get the spec on-line & see what it will feed rad wise. You should follow their guidance to size etc as you want something appropriate for the amount of heating it will have to do.

Someone mentioned bluebells - you shouldn't buy Spanish ones. I have all native naturally occurring ones here - signs of the old forest - they are an indicator. Spanish ones are invading, but not here thanks be to sense.

Right we must filter the water, must filter the water.

Hope everyones health is good & their animals & grandkiddies. Poor wee Sam.

I didn't realise that swan necked taps are so passe. I don't know what's in & what's out - mind you I am being a bit precious with the kitchen, but only to a certain point. The bathroom will be bland, but modern & easy to use & clean & I want to make a Escher-type floor.

Must get my butt moving as Alfie says - so cold.

Surely that will mean everyone walking round in endless circles, getting giddy and never quite making it to the loo. :rotfl:

Finally made contact with Mr Rod, who was gobasmacked by the amount of work we have for him and his plastering chums.

Looks like he'll start next week, so we could soon have some 'finished' rooms. :D

Weather here has been changeable, but the streams were running brown, so there must've been serious rain in the night.

Sam remains like our weather, but had a good night. DW has left and is en-route for Devon. :T

Hope Sam is quickly on the mend. Elderflower water is so good for eye bathing, so gentle even for a babbie one.

    Hi all :)

Very wet and miserable here today - blooming chilly too - so no work getting done in the garden. DH has free listing on ebay this week so is catching up with business, whilst I'm back on the decorating ;)

That was me, Choille, Thank you - will definitely make sure we only buy native ones :D

I don't think it's *swan necked* taps per se - more those with actual spouts resembling swans (especially gold ones :D), wings and all - at least that was what was in the much quoted house on the *Have a Look at This* thread :o

Google *gold swan tap* and look at images.....

At our last three houses we've had either Perrin & R o w e (swear filter didn't like that word - not sure why!) or Barber Wilson swan necked taps and afaik these are still very much de rigueur if aiming for a timeless, traditional look......

Right, back to the painting :D

Geeee- so that's a swan tap.......

I used to clean a house & it had a green & maroon suite with gold plated taps. I was asked to polish the bath as it was a shiny dark colour & that was the only way to get rid of the water marks. It was probably lethally slippy.

I shan't be having a swan tap - no sireee.
