Alfie where about is the techie guy from?

We had a builder down here today - to get his roof ladder back! He was telling us that he has work on 40 roofs to do coz of damage. It's been really surprisingly bad.

Where OH got the hay from, a few miles down the road, lost their woodland & a roof, so we've been lucky. One thing that the farmer was saying too is that he's noted it's brighter this Winter - strange & I don't know why, but we've had much less of the dark grey dark at 3pm days. It has, in the main, been much less gloomy........but the gales & thunder is just going on & on. Blowing a hooley out there tonight & sounds wet, so the snow covering maybe gone tomorra.
:rotfl::rotfl: commuter not COMPUTER...:rotfl::rotfl: hes the guy that owns all the hotels up there.. and he said exactly that... it was relentless weather..:(

Big correction here....He wasn't 9 lbs, he was 7lbs 14oz, which is far more reasonable. :D

I think someone was over-tired, or over-excited, or both. Sorry about that! :o

Anyway, main thing is Mum's fine, he's healthy: has two arms two legs, a head and.....well, not the family nose, but we'll forget about that for now. :)

FK they're up in Brum, but don't worry, we aren't going there tonight in the maelstrom that's currently battering us. I was up in the village earlier at a rehearsal and was nearly blown off my feet trying to reach the village hall.

Serious hugs to all those in more exposed places than this.

Dave - I have a picture of the proud Grandad saying, with arms held wide - he's this big. Just like that massive fish you caught!

    Sorry, only jesting.

Take care everyone it's horrible. The wind's a bully.

  • How are you settling in phoebe?

    Hi BD

We're settling in well, thank you! Not done much on the decorating front yet, although I've started stripping wallpaper - dreaded woodchip almost everywhere (ten rooms worth of walls and ceilings at the last count ), but at least we've flat plastered walls to strip, not more acres of blooming stone! Good to hear your guy is getting on with your work :)

Dave - your DD is not far from us then......we're up in the West Mids now ;) Don't blame you for not venturing out to visit, it's blowing an absolute hooley here - but at least the (admittedly small amount of) snow we had on Tuesday has gone.....the dogs loved it though :D

    Keep safe and warm everyone

    I've been Money Tipped!
Don't envy you with the woodchip phoebe :(

We had some in the hall in our bungalow and it was the devil to get off. Had to have the wall skimmed afterwards - goodness knows what the woodchip was stuck on with.

In this house we decided to splash out and get a decorator to do the painting - after all the delays with the kitchen installer/plumber last year I just wanted to get it done. Plus decorating isn't one of Mr BD's strengths!

Hope you haven't found any horrors since you moved in.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

I thought you were a good bit further north, but then almost everything is 'north' here.

We found some areas broadly west of Brum, to be very pleasant. We particularly loved a house not far from Leominster, but it was out of our budget by about £40k and overpriced for what it was. It did have 1/4 mile of excellent fishing, though! In the end, common sense prevailed. :o

Glad you're settling-in well, and that you believe this is 'the one' this time. :)

Well what a night, the wind was awful! I hope everyone's ok this morning?

I kept looking outside to see what the noises were, and eventually around 11 I went to check the animals. Everything was fine, somehow, the worst I could see was next doors recycling bag was ripped apart and bits strewn everywhere.

I didn't put mine out, I was going to get up early and do it, but then I snoozed my alarm this morning and missed the lorry, they come before 7 here. In my defence I couldn't get to sleep for ages, I even left the tv on for the dogs to try and disguise the noise, although I'm sure they can sense more than I can hear.

Ah yes choille, I really should think before opening my mouth, you are in far les ideal surroundings! I am just good at finding excuses to not do some things, the kitchens been the same size, in fact it was smaller, for 100 years, I need to be tidier, accept I don't live on grand designs and get on with it!

What's the format for choille day then? I've been saving stuff up to burn!!!

Just seen on the news the main road to/near my feed place is flooded, better take some paddles!
