YAY PAPA DAVE :beer: ..... well done to DD. ............... ive had one of those days you wish hadnt started !! stupid little things that have P'd me off... ive been trying to cancel my broadband from the Big Twaaaat company.. ive had the dish service from IOW for months now.[which is brilliant as it works !] the original supply from uknowho was worse than useless and i was assured i could cancel with no penalty... now they are saying i have an 18 month bluddy contract and it will cost me nearly £300 as a penalty to cancel !! i tried to contact the woman who dealt with it originally [she'd given me email and number for herself at the complaints dept]. whoever it is ive been dealing with this week has told me NOT to contact her and what he has said stands... ive just emailed him to tell him more or less i can contact who i bluddy like after all it IS a communications company ;) ive asked 3 times for thier head of complaints and ombidsman details and he is just ignoring this request which has fired me up above and beyond my patience.... AAAAAARGH. then i bought some stuff on the bay " mixed job lot" of dollshouse accesories. well "mixed" !! 68 of one type, 42 of another type and 1 each of 2 types !! so if anyone wants a packet of miniature shovel/pitchfork and hoe.... fill your boots !:rotfl: ok rant over, ive got to eat ;):D
  • Congrats Grandpa Dave and grandma Mrs Dave! and to Lucielle's daughter, not so much beer for her though :D

Hope you haven't got too much travelling to do in this filthy weather Dave, I can't remember, if you said, are mum and baby local? ish?

We had a decent bit of snow settle for a while and the roads were tricky last night, but what hadn't melted by dark tonight has now washed away, it's vile out again if the draught down into the fire is any indication!

I need to squeeze in a feed run tomorrow and a hay/straw run Friday ready for the cold snap, I won't want to go far then or run out.

CTC I passed your place today, both of them in fact, but was concentrating on driving too much to see the damage, The w*****$ I can't imagine how stressful it is right now, well I have a bit of an idea when it comes to evil neighbours, but as you say it really is time to make the move up the ranch, close the chapter and move on.

Alfie, I hope you've poured a glass of something to try and unwind, what a horrid day, Why do people have to be so difficult

I shouldn't be encouraging the booze mind you, I saw nurse today who told me to cut back :( I only have a couple of glasses of wine of an evening, no big sessions any more (well very occasionally) and when I told her I already had cut back quite a bit....if looks could kill :rotfl:

I've blagged some blood tests, going tomorrow, so we shall see, she thinks I'm lacking vitamins, I know I don't eat "Properly", as well as the "excessive" alcohol. I'll be gutted if it is just the wine, either I give it up or get used to feeling rubbish and suck it up :(

And the dentist said I eat too much sugar, she's right, I'm terrible, so I'm probably going to have to cut back on sweetie things too,

Wow 2015 is going to be booooooooring
  • Huge congrats to you Davesnave, Mrs Davesnave, DD and family :T

FK - sounds like you need a tonic. Good food is essential in the Winter I think. I'm a lazy cook - make things that will do days & seem to improve in flavour. Roasts are great value & dead easy. Mince etc. I make a big pot & adjust it into a meal that will do with spagetti - like a bolognaise & chuck in all the veg that needs eating. I'm sure you know all this & just need the motivation as it must be hard on your own to eat well, but you really should try & do it especially in the cold weather & if you're outdoors a lot - you need a bit of fat on the bones.

I like cider & it's quite low in alcohol volume - well the stuff I get from LIDLs is & takes me a while to get through......most of the time. I used to drink wine, but it is quite acidic - bad for the teeth, plus it can be quite heavy on tanins etc & make you feel ruff ruff. Nurses & that with their tut tuts. Goodness knows....each to their own & what feels right.

Sorry you are having such a rough time CTC, horrible to have to deal with all the bad feeling.

Well, not much news here at BD Central apart from the CH heating packed up yesterday so the stove is working overtime, and I've been under an electric blanket all day to try and keep warm. Think I could do with a heated loo seat too, doesn't half get chilly when there is no heating in the bathroom :o

Got Old Dog's blood test results and her levels for kidney and liver function are stable - very pleased as she is nearly 15. Gabapentin is doing well keeping her neck pain under control.

Decorator is making good progress painting kitchen and utility.

How are you settling in phoebe?

Off to bed now, thank goodness for electric blankets.......
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

  • Thanks choille, that did made me chuckle!

Don't worry I have plenty of fat on my bones, that's part of the problem :o I want to do more structured exercise to shift some of the timber but I need to get into a good eating/sleeping regime and find some energy.

I don't walk all the dogs all the time, they mostly come up the field and we play or they amuse themselves while I'm working, but I want to start taking them all out for walks in turns. When I used to walk other people's dogs I lost a good bit of weight and felt generally better. But can I get them to come out in this weather, can I heck!

I can cook and like doing big batches but I really hate my kitchen, it's small, and falling apart, I don't want to be in there any longer than I have to. So to make sure I am eating better I'm doing ready meals a few nights a week, the nice ones, with plenty of veggies. I've sent for the hairy bikers recipe book when they went on a diet, they lost shed loads. Trouble is I don't eat much in the day and I am aware I take on most calories after 5pm, at which point I'm starving and nearly falling over, not good!

Alfie, I was thinking just now, did you ever try people like CAB for help with the phone thing? Reason I say is they helped me get money back from a dodgy electrician, just by sending a correctly phrased letter, recorded, delivery, with deadlines etc.

My wording here isn't right but it's something like supply of goods and services, you paid for services you didn't receive or were not up to the job, therefore you don't have to pay or get a refund. The law is pretty black and white on this, I'm sure you mentioned the connection probs on here at the time and have of course documented events.

Trouble with big companies though is getting through the layers of carp to find the right person :(

Just watching a v interesting prog about people's eating habits and diets tailored to them, some very good tips, although they keep feeding the dieters cake and burgers then watching how fast or how much they eat, I'm assured it's for the greater good!

Alfie where about is the techie guy from?

We had a builder down here today - to get his roof ladder back! He was telling us that he has work on 40 roofs to do coz of damage. It's been really surprisingly bad.

Where OH got the hay from, a few miles down the road, lost their woodland & a roof, so we've been lucky. One thing that the farmer was saying too is that he's noted it's brighter this Winter - strange & I don't know why, but we've had much less of the dark grey dark at 3pm days. It has, in the main, been much less gloomy........but the gales & thunder is just going on & on. Blowing a hooley out there tonight & sounds wet, so the snow covering maybe gone tomorra.

FK - I've put on weight since I stopped the fags a few years back & need to lose that. I don't eat much in the morning & I think that's probably a mistake. I do a bit of walking around the croft, so a dog would be a great asset for me as I'd do more of that.
I bet your kitchen aint as wee as mine - nor as mucky!
  • v.unpleasent with me, but not [yet?] crazily high winds to go along with the rain. Getting new tyres on the car tomorrow, as it took me two goes to get up the short hill to my house on Tue evening with the snow. After checking, they didn't have a lot of tread...:(
