And there is light....wey hay. Although it has been brighter this Winter, it does seem healthier to get the actual sun on the croft back.
Goodness what gusts last night - hope everyone is still with rooves & trees.
Quite white on the tops, but the ground is clearer. I won't have a burning today as it's still quite blowy. I have a load of cardboard boxes to incinerate in the shed, but everything else is sopping - trimming etc. I'll have one when the wind dies more.
Phoebe - wood chip is a nightmare. I think that the emulsion seeps through & sticks it like shoite to the walls. I used a steamer in the past on cottages, but it's a heck of a pick at it pick at it demoralising job, but worth it in the end. Bit like Artex - which I only just found out has asbestos in it - so best not to scrap it off, sand it etc, just get it plastered over.
FK - you are probably just not in the mood to cook for one - it's not a great incentive. I wouldn't be motivated on my own. I tend to cook stuff that will do a few days - stews etc, one pot stuff sometimes saves on the washing up!
I usually burn at midday as the sun strikes today -= we lose it for approx 6 weeks, so it is joyous to see it back even on such a soggy, windy day as today. The birds even seem chirpier, noisier & I have the long tailed tits back at the feeder.....ahhhhhhhhhhh, joy.0 -
Just had a quick catch up with posts over the last few days. My DH had a serious health scare which thank goodness is not what we feared following an emergency scan this morning.
Congratulations on driving test pass, becoming a Grandpa Dave. CTC, so so sorry about your troubles.
Hope everyone surviving the awful weather. Wind was terrible when we were in Edinburgh this morning but things seem to have abated a bit now. Thank goodness, no snow - yet!!!
Had a quick prowl around the garden this afternoon and the polyanthus, pansies etc are blooming away. Snowdrops out and daffs are valiantly pushing up their green shoots.
Take care everyone.0 -
Mr Azzabazza - well wishes. Hope things are calmer for you all.
Winds picking up again after torrential rain all day. Getting gusty again.0 -
Just popping in to wish everyone Happy Choille Day and to offer congrats to Lucielle's daughter and Davesnave and family, and extra hugs to CTC.
All quiet here at Alex Towers, the weather was bad here at 10pm last night but went over fairly quickly so I slept most of the night. It's nice to leave work at 4:30pm and it still be a little light, now I just need a bit more at the other end of the day and we should start getting some eggs!
Hugs to all, keep safe and warm xx"...And if it don't feel good, what are you doing it for?" - Robbie Williams - 'Candy'0 -
