Sprinkling of snow over on the hills in Wales. Just wet here in Liverpool.0
-
Here its just wet.
But I put hay out in the barn for the first time ( mainly because clearing a barn that had a couple of bales in it) on Sunday and the horses aren't bothered.0 -
We've had a bit of snow :j Not much, and it hasn't settled but it was coming down fast for a time. It's all but gone already. The worst thing about this cold is all the metal gates, they are painful to touch!
CTC I think you're right going for a later auction too, a few houses locally haven't sold in recent ones although they are challenging to say the least. And if you're antyhing like me a deadline is also helpful
What if you started clearing with a skip, I know they're pricey, but just to get you started? Then you can make some space, and it gets easier and you can do the tip runs when you've got some momentum going.
And what if you treat yourself to having the house professionally cleaned, or at least give yourself the option? It takes some of the stress away, they've got all the gear to do it quicker and arguably better, and if you feel like you can tackle the cleaning once the house is empty then you still can.
A friend of mine is awesome at cleaning, she's way too good an artist to be a cleaner, so I'm glad she isn't doing that any more, but She's so organised and quick and all the things I'm not. I do actually like cleaning, it's the tidying beforehand that holds me back, and I feel like my time could be better spent. It's worth delegating some things and making it a bit easier on yourselves
As for loading pigs, it has been like a benny hill sketch at times and it was clear early on I needed to make it possible to be a one woman show! So I made a small enclosure between big pens in the field and another one by the stables/yard next to a small covered pen the finishing pigs can go in.
Also I back the trailer in a day or two before to get them used to it, and to save me faffing last minutethen they can sleep in it and I feed them in it, with the door open. They don't always play ball at loading time so I allow plenty of time, and we get there in the end. It's not the perfect set up but it's as good as it can be for now and it does the job.
Hope hubby is ok, I hate it when docs fob you off like that. I must admit I've been seriously looking at my health recently. It's all well and good taking care of the animals better than myself but if anything happened to me they'd be scuppered too
I've cut back on booze, I'm trying to eat a bit better, exercising more, in an effort to avoid preventable lifestyle illnesses we are hearing so much about. I actually went to the dentist yesterday, following two emergency fillings in two months and the time wasted sorting that, NHS Direct . I hadn't been in over 5 years til then, turns out I need a few fillings redone  oh joy!
And I'm speaking to the doc tomorrow about some symtoms I'm having, nothing major, but noticeable enough that I want a check up. I've been so so tired lately, and having joint pain, losing strength in my grip and things.
I'm just not old enough to be running out of steam, but compared to even a few years ago I feel very different; I can hardly believe I was a full time gardener once, I had a very physical job in the RAF, and a busy social life outside work, I was like the flipping energiser bunny!:dance:0 -
We've had torrential rain and bright sunshine alternately, all morning. It's trending towards rain now though.....:(0

Congratulations - Great news.
Ferret Keeper - so sound very sensible indeed. It is a struggle if you have to do most things on your own, so you do have to make things easier where you can. Looking after you is so important too. Sorry about the dentist stuff - not nice, but a must get sorted soon sort of pain in the ar....mouth.
Had to go down & measure a room for someone. OH dropped me off while he went to get some hay locally & didn't appear back, so I set off & almost walked the 4 miles home in a gale & blizzards before he appeared all chirpy with all the local news about roofs blowing off & wonders why I still am not speaking to him. I'd left my gloves in the car & my pockets were full of crap/essential things. Really cold now.0 -
haven't mentioned it on here, but new owers of the land by house has been threatening us, re= chicken sheds and our old cars on their land.. had to have the police to them last week, today without notice they pulled all our sheds down and burnt them, 7 big burley blokes.. hubby was here on his own, he called the police, and they didn't want to know...
no notice, no letter, nothing, just all verbal abuse..
I a so upset... we were going to take them up the ranch in the next few weeks, the !!!!!HOLES are from gorseinon..
I told hubby I don't want to step foot in this house again... told him I dot care what he does with the contents of this house, burn it, throw it, I don't care.. I will prob delete this post later, so please don't copy...Work to live= not live to work0 -
