We also have cavity wall insulation which makes a difference too. Has your loft been done yet Dave or is the van still very well insulated????
UPVC windows are one of my favourite things!:D:D
I know phoebe (and others) wouldn't agree, but I don't care! :rotfl:Absolutely hated the wooden sash windows in the first house we owned!
We have cavity insulation, but I'd be wary of fitting it myself, unless it was the polystyrene ball kind, which creates problems when you knock holes in a building, as we're doing!
Ours is giving no trouble, though.
The van is no longer full of the furry stuff. We took about 1/3 of it - the really naff stuff- to the tip, we left 1/3 of it in the barn to be collected by the guys/gals doing the new stuff and 1/3 has been bagged in dumpies for possible re-use, or for Freecycling.0 -
Thank you all for the advice on the planting I will pass on your suggestions
We have been considering getting a puppy (again) however as usual we have tied ourselves up in knots trying to decide which brred to go for. All our other pets are rescued however we want a puppy and from a reputable breeder so trying to decide.
I will be leafing through the seed catalogues soon......Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -

You would be better looking at one of the breed selector tools on the internet;). They aren't without fault but I could see me having the breeds they throw out for me.
Think..... Breed tolerance with kids/ adaptability to house dog , excercise requirements, grooming requirements.
All the dog breeds are lovely. Every one of them. But you probably don't want something that would ideally see you walk it for four hours a day. Grooming? Its very bonding experience usually, but with such a wee one I'd have thought something with a coat like an afghan or an old English sheep dog might be too much?0 -
Lost our internet access at home so come to a friendly hotel to get access
BT reckon we'll be back on-line by the 6th Jan for FS-Not handy at all0 -
Flipping Heck Choille, hope it gets back online soon, not good for ebay sales... I posted out 6 items today, and got 3 to post out ( 2 sales after I Done all the postage, and waiting for payment for 1).
so they are trickling in.. so when back in work on Monday, will try and get some more bits listed..
Hope everyone has a nice evening... I will be on the computer, trying to get new ideas for crafted stuff, and will be trying to make some sample stuff... ready to see which ones works with the vintage blankets and fabrics I got... and them make them properly so they can go to the antique place for sale..Work to live= not live to work0 -
CTC I spend a lot of time on pinterest and Etsy admiring the fabulous crafting ideas
Choille How frustrating!
LIR I have looked at the recomended dogs lists for children and then gone to the breed specific information and often the breed society pages too. Still undecided :rotfl:The top contenders (so far) are: Cocker Spaniel, Miniature Schnauzer and Dachshund. We want something small to medium that is patient with children, will not try to hunt our cats/rabbits, and is content with sensible levels of exercise.
If it was just me I would have a wolfhound, saluki and a patterdale terrier however they are unlikely to work in our current situationTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Rummer, at the moment I am into utoooob lol..
I have a large-ish glue gun, so before buying a small one, I have borrowed my MIL's , so I can sit watching tv and 'fiddle' around with stuff....
I used to do brooches out of welsh blankets, I haven't done them for a few years now, as everyone seems to be doing them now around here, so I am trying to do new funky ones, so will see what my trials come up with lol...
on your travels around the old interweb, if you see some nice shabby chic style bunting with happy mothers day on it, let me know. as I am going to try and get some things made, and a nice themed display done.. so hopefully that will make people buy..Work to live= not live to work0 -

I shall be popular now......but one of the top questions I'd have on my list is "Do they smell?"
At least one of those on your list does, usually. Their owners would be the last ones to notice though! :rotfl:0 -
Spent my New Year's Eve in various retail establishments looking at toilets and washbasins.... in some detail.
I can't really see much difference between a loo costing £400 and one that's about £100. Am I missing something? I would want radar guidance for some of the prices they charge for a bit of porcelain.
It's frustrating. There's no such magazine as "What Bog?" and you can't exactly try them out in the shop, can you?
One thing I noticed is that there's a trend for square seats. When was it that the human race developed square posteriors? Was I out on that day and missed the switch-over?
Total mystery! :think:0 -
Oh no Dave! Never thought of that! It is such a hard decision!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
