Office 'do' yesterday lunchtime, so now I'm on holiday until 5th Jan :j

Opened an Xmas pressie early, a pair of garden shears, and ventured out this morning to clear iris and brunnera foliage which had been hit by frosts. Encouraging to see the various bulbs just showing and from tomorrow the days should start getting longer.

Had to go to M&S to collect some on-line orders, so dropped into Homebase and picked-up some discounted cacti. They need potting-on, so rather than fight the crowds again have ordered some cacti compost and plant food from Amazon which may get here on Xmas eve.

For a variety of reasons, treated myself to a new (to me) watch which arrived this week, just needs a link (£23!) adding to the bracelet as it was pinching so that's my DIY task for today.
  • afternoon all,

well went to the produce/dressed poultry auction, was disappointed, so we stayed until lot 60 odd, and then went to a local farm shops, just outside Hereford, and then called into Brecon to have a mooch..

the produce was a bit naff quality, and just to give you a guide, a sack of dirty carrots sol for £4.50, and you can pick of sacks/nets of carrots around the place for around £2.20-ish. didn't stay long enough to see what they birds were selling for, but they were being auctioned per kg.. ( each bird had been pre-weighed)

here is a quick video I took, you can see the poultry/turkeys etc behind us lol

  • Awful weather today, it's been as wet and blustery as we've had it so far this year but no mention of 'weather bombs' on the telly! I wonder why...

I was going to post cards around my neighbours, but that'll have to wait until tomorrow now. It's odd, but this year there's been cards in the post for the three previous owners of my house which must easily go back 8 years. I guess they haven't been in touch much!

At least it looks like no frost for Xmas, I had having to travel when the roads are treacherous.

It's been half-decent here for the time of year, though it's obviously raining up on the moors. I'll be really happy if the mild theme continues, because we're not geared-up for a really cold snap. :o

This morning, 3 people arrived here simultaneously, so my plans to have a quiet day in the polytunnel evaporated....:(

One was just a quick business thing, but the other two visitors brought stuff that will keep me active for a day or two: logs and a trailer to put rubble in. :)

The logs I've split and stacked, but they're so wet, it'll be next Christmas before we can use any of them. Thankfully, we still have a good supply left from the wood we bought last May, plus as much of our own stored wood as I care to cut up, so we won't run out. :D

Pete has promised us a few loads too, but his will be wet too.

The trailer will take a good few tonnes, so I don't think I'll fill that before dark. :rotfl:Pete was not terribly forthcoming about the rubble's final resting place, but I think someone is building a barn. ;)

Had a quick meet & greet + motivational chat with 'mine' this afternoon. :D

They seem a decent bunch, but it's early days. Certainly, there's been no tree nibbling, no fence barging, and I'm assured there have been no ill-advised liaisons in the past few months.....;)

    So, no lambs here.
