I shall take pics tomorrow CTC -I would have been plastered today as there's scaffolding everywhere & stew doesn't hang around.

Speaking about plastering, reminds me that I asked the plumber for the name of a good plasterer, as we've rather lost faith in Ron, who was also rather depressing to have on site. He came straight back with a recommendation: Mr Rod!:rotfl:

But he's right. Mr Rod has done plenty of good work around here in the building line, and septic tank maintenance is just a second string thing.

So....I've asked Mr Rod and he's agreed to do some plastering for us. :D

    Also, I saw Pete today.

"Didn't see you at the Fatstock Show!" we both said to each other. :rotfl:

Pete could prove he was there, because his sheep won a prize.:T I only have photos. :(

Anyway, some of his sheep are coming up here next week, as the river is getting a bit lively now and briefly came over its banks on Thursday night. They won't be the prizewinners. :undecided

    Good morning everyone
Been out of the loop for just over 3 weeks as my DH and I have been on a 3-week holiday touring Rajasthan in India.

Thanks to our DD2, we now have Indian connections, but I fear that it may be a long time before we make it out there.

Its a fabulous country, but neither of us copes well with heat, so it would have to be a mountainous area for us. The family connections are in Mumbai. :(

. I can't think of another instance, except the time when we lost about 25 kids on a map reading exercise....and then it was a bit obvious! :rotfl:

Did you ever find them again Dave?

Supposed to be meteorite showers out there, but couldn't see owt for snow.

I would have Stew here more often, but it's a case of what we can afford to do at the moment. He's really very good, but he has worked on National Trust stuff, the Scottish Parliament so he has a good pedigree.

I do seem to have filled up the house build with clutter, but not much space anywhere else really.

That's how desperate I am for a pet. I am even seeing cushions as cats.

Is there any help for this petlessness?

I'm off out to look at the sky if I can see it.

There's a posh tree, alfie! :T Very tasteful, unlike the overladen, gaudy thing we normally have.....but not this year.:(

Yes, choille, we did find all the children, eventually. It was an event which proved even well-organised trips can go wrong. In the months between planning the exercise and doing it, the council helpfully installed a new bench on the footpath, before the one where the kids were meant to turn right. The correct bench was described as "made from stone" and the new one was wooden, so that sorted out the 25 kids who weren't hot on detail....taking them behind the only trees in the vicinity and out of the view of those supervising.

It took about 90 minutes to round-up said kids, and in a temperature of 25c or more, we were not terribly pleased they'd gone so far without re-tracing their steps. Nor were the the majority of kids, who either got it right, or who quickly corrected their mistake. We took them to a village shop, where they cleared the place of ice creams and pop.

The errant strays got nothing except the weak orange squash we carried in the coach - real world punishment! :rotfl:
  • Back to rain lashing down and gusting wind with me :( Still, at least the work on adding drains to the garden is paying off, no swamp this winter

Had to turn the lights on at midday when there was snow during the week...only a week until the shortest day!

My prepared hyacinths are certainly not going to be blooming for Xmas, there's only 5cm of green shoot showing. Maybe New Year if I bring them from the hall into a warmer room? Not very exciting, but the spider plant offsets have come-away well; I like the effect of the zinc planters but must find better drip-trays than those flan tins...
