I currently have £7 in my emergency fund but it's better than 0 and payday is just around the corner.

Hi I'm a newbie to the forums
Please can I join the emergency fund challenge? Mine is currently sitting at 0 I have no savings at all which is a stress and worry for me.
I've set up a standing order from my bank to put £10 a month into an EF but hoping to sweep money left over from budgets at the end of each month into the EF so it can build up quicker as I'm aware its going to take a lot of months to get it up to £1000 only depositing £10 a month in :( I save separately for one off yearly occurrences like xmas/ bdays/ school uniform/ mot so this would be purely for emergencies.

    Thanks
    Jess x

  • Welcome to all the new members:beer:. Lovely to see the thread so popular:T. I remember when you first started it, patman, and wondered if you'd get 50 members;). Just goes to show that support from like-minded people helps a lot and motivates people to make an effort to save:T

I read the thread regularly but haven't posted much recently. Glad to say my EF is still intact but the cat is very out of sorts so I fear a visit to the vets may be going to happen pretty soon. I'm keeping a close eye in the hope I can detect an improvement as vet fees are horrendous even for the simplest thing:eek:. I wouldn't stint on treatment but often these things have a habit of righting themselves.

I once took him to the vet when he was barely moving around, spent all his time hiding away under the bed, hadn't eaten a thing for a couple of days and after the vet had looked at him (and that's all he did, no medication or injections) we came home and the darned cat practically leapt out of his carrier and went straight to his bowl and started wolfing his food down. Cost me an arm and a leg:mad:

It's really become one of the most popular threads.

Has it been mentioned in Martin's email yet Patman?

This is so true - the smallest thing soon escalates in price.
