Are you sure that the cats that are causing you problems are not feral cats?

I only ask because feral cats are, quite rightly, classed as vermin and consequently there are a number of avenues available to you to help alleviate the problem.

The ones I have seen are definitely domesticated cats and not feral

Being domesticated does not mean that they are not feral

hon, if i had a fence all the way around my garden i would - if only to keep her from being poisoned/shot at with a water pistol.
but not everyone lives in a concrete jungle.

My plot is an oasis in a concrete jungle unfortunately, which just makes it more attractive to cats in search of a loo.
  • Please show me the post where the OP has admitted to poisoning cats or where he/she definetly intends to.
op said they wanted to poison a cat, which is vile

then someone else said hope same fate befalls you, which is apt, because nobody in their right mind would go around killing cats.

Me too, Andy. Our two cats are indoor only, due to health problems, but I actually have cat mint in our garden and welcome all of the neighbourhood cats to visit. I enjoy making a fuss of them.

I have nine indoor cats, who swipe outdoor cats through the French windows, and make me laugh a lot, all outdoor cats are welcome any time in my garden, my only regret is that there are not more of these cats. All my cats love me and I love them, they entertain me and they've got their own personalities unlike dogs who just want approval - they're the ultimate companion and I felt I had to come on here and defend cats because cats are amazing! All I would say to the OP is don't post about killing cats - they're doing something because they have to, you're put out because your garden doesn't look pristine, hardly warrants a murder does it?
  • Loving cats is an individual
Putting prickly things on the fence - Is it legal?
more legal than poisoning a neighbours pet and killing it just cause it went in your garden...
  • I don't have trouble with them crapping, but the patio is perpetually littered with dead mice and birds. I once rushed out to the kitchen to see what the crash was and found one of them had tipped the rubbish bin over. On another occasion I nearly jumped out of the armchair when one of them peered out from behind the settee.

... they're doing something because they have to...

Why - because you don't like cleaning litter trays? After all, that's what most gardens are.

In that case surely all cats are feral?
