well, i tell mine to - i give her written instructions with diagrams and everything - but she just does what she pleases. I have tried putting her on the naughty step, taking away her favourite toys, not giving her sweeties, but nothing works.
if you have any more suggestions i would be glad to hear them ....0 -
Like some of you, I have tried all sorts of things to keep the cats off my garden, including sonic alarm, thorny twigs, pepper dust, garlic powder, gel, crystals and so on. The only thing to give any lasting success is a water scarecrow, which does not hurt the animals, but will scare them off. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Contech-ScareCrow-Motion-Activated-Deterrent/dp/B005MW9VOM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412347525&sr=8-1&keywords=water+scarecrow Since buying one of these, I have not had any cat poo in my back garden, not even once. :j0

Next door's cats never pooh in the neighbours gardens, not ours' with the greyhounds, next door again with the Jack Russel, or the ones further along with the lab, the cairn, the elderly staffie, two more JRTs and the two westies respectively. I can't think what it is that puts them off.
In fact they walk along the back garden wall to get from one end of the terrace to the other. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Have none of these owners heard of litter trays? Keep the damned things in until it's done it's stuff. Let it stink YOUR house out. The only exception is if you ask your neighbours if they are willing to clean up all the crap as you are considering buying a cat.
If you buy a cat, you should be forced to buy a litter tray!0 -

of course cat owners have litter trays! but cats can choose to do it outside. my cat rarely goes out but will rarely go in her tray, she goes in our garden instead.0 -
I do have a moan about the people who teach thier moggies to come and pooh in my garden, and could happily strangle them but something much worse are the dog owners who stand by, while little Fido has a cr*p outside my front gate.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I'm glad that there are many people like me. I'm not against cats, but why should I be the one to pick the litter of these obnoxious creatures.
Hell there are so many of them here. No wonder they say the cat population has exploded!!!
Thanx for all the suggestions, seriously thinking of getting the scarecrow motion activated etc....“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu

I've heard garlic works quite well, as does Jeyes fluid.0

Its unbelievably cruel to suggest that the op suffers the same fate.
Besides, the op never said he/she would do that. Just said that they wanted to do it. Big difference between thought and action.
But yes, cats are a nuisance in the garden. I'm in the same predicament but I've given up worrying about it as I can't do anything about it.
The water pistol idea is fine apart from cats around here foul in the night.0 -

...a lot on here are acting as if cats are "taught" to go in gardens as if it is some kind of malicious intent where after you got bed, evil cat poop training neighbour gets up and points to your garden gets the cat to go and then rewards it every time!! this is completely infantile at best and completely paranoid at worse!! cats will always be part wild, it's the cat's choice where it does because it doesn't know better. We do, so poisoning (killing) a cat is vile
and what about dogs who never shut up barking, surely that's as much of an issue and because dogs follow the pack instinct here's an example where owners CAN teach their dogs to stop being yapping little brats and never shutting their annoying gobs barking 24-7 like it's going out of style..
chase the cats off humanely or with a water pistol, don't obsess over it, definitely don't poison them because it's vile and it's criminal
I love cats! If I could let more into my garden I would!0
