Good morning diary
I rang one of my credit cards yesterday as they've charged me interest
Had an argument on the phone with someone who asked me if I knew how interest on credit cards works
Ended with them refunding me the interest and confirming the offer was misleading :j
Think I'll be closing that credit card account in the future. There's no real reason for me to keep it open much longer as the bonus points for using the card are almost negligible now
I think there was a ruling from Brussels about credit cards and incentives and now they're all pretty rubbish.
Could do with having one with a nice big long 0% on it so we can put a deposit down on the next car once were debt free
I do love playing the 0% system to my advantageHistoric Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!
Mortgage started June 2015 = £170,000 January 2022 = £134,000
Saving for Xmas 2022= . . Amazon £55

I regularly come across posters on this forum who have misunderstood an offer from a CC. It's quite common, so you are definitely not alone. (it's normally a BT mixed with purchases). I'm glad the CC company were able to help you out and refund the interest. I hope you don't get caught out with any others.
0% offers can really help with breathing space on large purchases..... I'm glad this hasn't put you off utilising it for every penny you can.

Hey DB  and yes it was a 0% BT mixed up with purchases.
I know how they work (used them many times) as I usually keep them seperate but the Ts and Cs of the offer were so vague and minimal on the offer they just refunded me the interest owed (we're talking just over a quid but thats not the point!)
I'm currently sitting playing the 'waiting for ios to update' game
Been avoiding it for ages as hadn't got round to backing up to the PC and managed to accidently click the 'install now' button instead of 'later' on the pop up when it appeared this evening
Worrying myself stupid now that all my pictures will have disappeared when it eventually comes back on
It was backed up not too long ago, but my Christmas stuff hasn't been backed up yet
DH says it will be fine, I'm worrying myself stupid it won'tHistoric Debt August 2009 = £63,600 10th March 2017 = £0 100% paid all gone!

They pretty much all charge for purchases if balance not cleared in full (BT sitting on the card, means balance isn't cleared) there are a few exceptions to the rule but are very few and far between.....off the top of my head I can only think of one right now which is the Nationwide Select CCI'm currently sitting playing the 'waiting for ios to update' game

I'm not very familiar with the i-stuff, but for Android, I've set up a back to upload my photos straight from my camera when it's connected to wifi (saves me having to remember to run a back up every few weeks). Can you do that type of setting with i-cloud or something?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Hey DB.
Yeah I know, rookie mistake with the credit card
They still agreed to refund me the interest as I had paid the interest carrying part of my bill 5 times over within that 1 month.
I didn't lose my photosevery time an iOS update runs I panic because it hasn't been backed up
I have no idea how the iCloud works so have never used it (have switched it on now, will see what that does)
Sometimes I find a ton of random pics the kids have taken and don't really want them all backed up and clogging up storage space :rotfl:
Better get ready for yet another day at worksooooo long till payday!

Hi Disco Dolly  thanx for reading
Well I've decided from today I'm going to send the leftover money in my bank to my ISA everyday, by rounding down to the next £10 if the account isn't a round number.
I've figured I spend less when I'm down near my overdraft (not in it)
Went out today and bought myself a top from the local charity shop that sells clothing for a few quid each item
Saw a Hollister top and asked DD if she wanted it (I know how horrible school kids can be) and she said she wasn't interested in names on her clothes and took no notice of the other kids in school
I'm very proud of her :j
Now if only she'd stop going through her mobile phone credit so fast  I'm hoping she'll get better with money as she gets older, got to give her a chance to learn I suppose.
Counting down until the end of March now and hoping OH gets a bonus for the end of the year. Won't know for a while yetwill be used to help pay for the car if he does get a bonus

Good evening diary
Well I've had a day off work today so got a little bit of housework done.
Back to work tomorrowso sat on the sofa with a face like thunder.
Need to do something about my jobI feel like I'm working all hours under the sun and not seeing much of my kids.
Got a couple of weeks off work coming up, will have plenty of time to myself to think about what I want to do while I'm off
Oh well, something will come up, it usually does

Morning diary
We got a letter from HMRC yesterday as they've decided to stop out tax credits due to an increase in income (I'm sure I'd told them I was changing job way back in June or July, but can't remember)
From what I've read they have had an increase in income written down but without finding my renewal letter I can't be sure it was all recorded properly
It looks like we're going to owe them about £700 at the end of this year and our tax credits for next year will be £0 so there's no award for them to take it back off of (a quick Google has shown me this is more common than I thought)
Means that's another debt we'll have to clear this year  I'm hoping they'll take it in monthly payments as I'm not keen on handing over the whole lot in one go and leaving us short
It feels like 2 steps forward and 2 steps back at the moment
At least if we're not entitled to any tax credits in the future then we won't have the fun of dealing with them every yearthat's one positive I suppose!
